internal motor speed sensor?

after a long debate, ipurchased locally a 36V 250w geared rear wheel hub motor for my MTB.
model is DGW07. already laced with shimano gears and disc.

the seller noted that in addition to the hall sensors, the motor also have an internal speed sensor (white wire as can be seen in the photo).

I plan to use the CON63 controller sinewave from GBK with their external speed sensor and LCD display -

do I connect it all and leave the white wire un-installed, or can it be used in any way?

If you have a connector for an external speed sensor, you can leave the white wire disconnected, but you need to find the setting in the LCD that selects the speed sensor source. Make sure you get the instructions for the LCD settings.
 
That LCD should measure speed from a hall signal, so you don't need to use that white wire.

Like d8veh said, it's just a matter of the settings in your LCD. proper wheel size and you'll get the correct speed.
 
I was hoping there was a way to use this motor's internal speed sensor, instead of the external one, supplied with the kit.

Would make a more elegant machine.
 
Ah my bad, that display does use a spoke magnet based speed sensor.

To my knowledge you can't substitute that sensor in the motor. The motor sensor is sensing magnets as they go by. So it's firing some 50 times per revolution, as opposed to the spoke magnet based sensor which the display is expecting to fire once per revolution.

Perhaps you can set the display to think the wheel is 50 something times smaller than it is in real life, and then you'd get an accurate speed, assuming you could interface that motor sensor wire with the display at all.
 
You can used the motor speed sensor if you want. You have to connect it to one of the two wires on the external speed sensor connector. If you're lucky, you can find a description of the controller's wires. You connect it to the signal one.
