Thanks, in advance for any help !
I'm trying to use a Bafang 250w front hub motor on a Felt road bike. I'm using it with a partial kit from Eunorau with a torque sensor in the BB.
Please verify or correct my information and add anything that may be pertinent.

1. My new Bafang motor with internal speed sensor will give 6 signal pulses per revolution of the wheel.
2. The kit's intended Shengyi motor uses a motor-position hall sensor. Should be producing 16 x 5.3 (for gearing) = 85 signals per rev.
3. If I can hi-jack the motor-position hall sensor in my Bafang it would make 176 pulses per rev. Would that allow my motor and controller to operate well, but jut display the speed wrong?

In another thread some ES forum users (B_c and Docw009) gave some good info regarding a KT controller with an LCD-11 display: P1 and P2 are set to use either the dedicated speed sensor or input from one motor hall sensor and the number of sensor pulses per rev.
My Eunorau kit came with Bafang display 850C. I don't see a parameter for speed sensor nor the number of magnets. Is there a way to get to those settings ? Or if I used a different display would that allow access to those parameters?

Download the manual for your display. The setting for the speed sensor is shown in section 8.14 Advance settings/poles in motor, where you can set it to 6. All what you said about pulses was wrong regarding the setting. It's not that complicated. Nearly all LCDs are the same: zero for no speed sensor that forces the controller to get the speed signal from the hall sensors; 1 for a single magnet motor or external speed sensor; 6 if you have a 6 magnet motor, like yours.

Thank you for the reply. I got the PDF for my display. I would have thought “Poles In Motor “ was referring to the 18 motor windings.
I’ll try making the setting “6” today and see how that goes.

So… no such luck. Apparently access to those parameters is locked. Here’s what I have in Advanced Settings… (see photo).
Option#1 - I use the Shengyi motor the kit was designed for. But it’s larger & only available as rear-hub. (Actually not available from Eunorau now.)
Option#2 - If I use this controller I must match my speed input to the settings in the controller. I know the Shengyi motor has ZERO speed magnets. It’s using motor magnet pulses. So back to my original calculation of 84 pulses per wheel revolution. Right???
Option#3 - Find a more friendly controller that can accept the Torque Signal from my BB. Any suggestions there?

While I am right that the number of motor magnets must be multiplied by the gear ratio when the controller uses a motor hall sensor as speed input…
d8veh was correct that, if the hub motor has a dedicated speed sensor, the number of magnets must be set accordingly- 1 or 6.
Since I cannot access that parameter I opted to open the motor and cut out 5 of the magnets. And yes, that solved the problem.
