HI guys,
I was just wondering whether you could tell me if this Etek motor is good enough to power a motorcycle? I'd like to overamp it to the same rates as the killacycle and think it would be of great help. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Etek-48v-DC-Brushed-15hp-Electric-Car-E-bike-Motor_W0QQitemZ110439144510QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET?hash=item19b6af9c3e&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

the setup I'm looking for. firstly I'd like to link the motor to the bike chain using a standard 11 tooth sprocket. the part I am really stuck on is whether I could apply the transmission of a dx250cc onto a strong enough motor.
I'm currently in the UK, any help would be greatly appreciated
thx
Al

Those are very good motors, but it won't take Killacycle levels of power.
Typically they are run at 48v and use a 300-400A controller. I've seen them used at up to 96v for drag racing, but the copper bars on the winding ends can overheat and desolder themselves, resulting in destruction if the power is too high for too long.

A good motor for a small dirt bike or street cycle, using a 50-125 cc frame for the donor bike. It might be pushable to 250 frames if light enough, but a smaller bike would work best.
