Last night while i was testind cell subgroup for a next battery pack, i decided to charge a 5s2p pack from makita that my rc charger refused to charge in li-ion mode cause the current does not wanted to rise enough to start the cahrge process..
so i wanted to cahrge them anyway to be able to test them in ischarge mode.. so i choosed the ni-cad battery mode at 15s
..

... AND I FORGOT TO STOP THE CHARGE BEFORE THE VOLTAGE OVERSHOOT !!!!
SO THE VOLTAGE OF EACH CELL RISE TO 4.6V during 15minutes...

results: no fire.. no leak.. no explosion...

they was just warm to around 45-50 celsius....

and they still kept their capacity !!!! it seems that it was not affected after i discharged them!!.. but their RI increased a bit

4.6V !!

That was an accident.. but no bad consequences..

Sony Konion are the sisters of A123 M1 cell i bet !!

After having charged/discharged over 1500 of these cells i only had two risk of accident with those.. and that ended without fire, explosion or leak... only some burn du to short circuit wires and grip...

I've also previously charged 18s 1p of these cells completly on reverse polarity!!! they did not xploded leak or catch in fire.. they only got warm and become unusefull and droped to -0.020V.

FOR ME... AFTER THAT OCCURED I CONSIDER THESE CELLS ARE SAFE!! for sure!!!
