KT LCD3 does not measure speed

I got down so components to build an ebike, 750W hub motor, kt36/48zzwsrl controller, and built a 36V battey pack cuz corona didnt allow me to ship it down and there werent any local suppliers.

My problem is after setting everything up, all seems to go well, the wheel turns when throttling, however, the only thing show on the display when turning is the temp and wattage, everything else is at zero. After some googling, found a troubleshoot video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6ck7AGsXTI. Disassembling the hub motor as instructed i only find 1 magnet and its secured in place. Was I sent a defected item?

I am not sure how to proceed, please help.

is it a geared hub motor? can you provide a link to the kit?

I set the wheel up on a stand i built specifically for testing and figured out the speed works after about 15s from the start of the wheel spin, which is weird but managable i guess. Do you know why though?
