What is required to replace the lead batteries to start our motors with lithium? Will the alternators work? What else?

Thanks

you will need an absolutely bulletproof BMS to protect the cells from over/under charge.
Manufacturers are already producing these Li Auto batteries with BMS included ......at a cost !

Nanophosphate Engine Start Battery (12V):

I started a 2 liter diesel engine once with only 4 headway 10Ah cells. Worked surprisingly well, but I would see it as an emergency solution.
I also used 4 26650 sized ( not a123) cells paralleled with the lead battery to make starting easier during the cold period. Never balanced them. Worked fine, but two cells had a lower voltage after 6 month.
Probably a pack of Konion/ Li-manganese cells would work fine without BMS, but the voltage doesn't match well with a common 12V car system. ( Although all components in a car are supposed to handle 30v for short peaks )
Thundersky offers 12V LiFePO batteries in different sizes, but I have no experience with them.
