Loaded Vanguard 2015 Dual VESC / Rear 12S

Those are just regular 'ol Caliber 2 50's - 10"/184mm. Melon green color since they were like $5 less than elsewhere and prime...

One thing i'd recommend is 270 or 275 belt instead of 280 if you are using 13/32 like me. 16/32 fits perfect (what Torque ships you).

Thanks for those details! Im going to get this same setup..

What is the best size trucks to get with use for the torque mounting brackets? I will use dual rear and like these newly anodized adjustable you have shown sl33py.
James - Want to meetup with you anyway for VESC's, so can bring these to check them out.

I just finished up the VESC tonight and motor tested! check out my thread for details.. If you want them they're yours...I only have 2 left from the test batch...

would love to get them to someone local so we put them to a real world test and see how they perform on the road.

Done deal! Swing over after work tomorrow? I'd love to have these in hand to start rebuilding!

If you guys would like some 3d printed kegel pulleys in abs i can knock a few up and send them if you cover shipping costs. I'm in Australia.

let me know how many teeth you need.

I'm just printing up one now to see how they run. it's a 40 tooth pulley.
I won't be able to send them for another 2 weeks as i work fly in fly out, and i fly back to work tomorrow.
They seem to hold up very well. i had already printed a 36t off of thingiverse made by voodoojar.
not as strong as my nylon prints though.

uploaded to thingiverse for anyone that wants to use it.
it's rough and ready but will get you rolling.

Hey okp, looks like we both had a similar idea with the boosted board inspired DIY.

I can't get the image to upload but here is the link: https://imgur.com/ivyYw96

I used a 42" vanguard with flex 1 (I weight 220 lbs). Using a flexible deck definitely provides some mounting challenges. As you can see there was a lot of trial and error trying to figure this out.

I first tried bolting the housings to the deck. This worked for a while but eventually the repeated flexing caused the housings to crack.

What I ended up settling on is silicone caulk. I literally just clean the surface, run a bead of silicone around the enclosure, stick it down and let it cure overnight. This alone is enough to hold the enclosures down so they never come off, plus it's waterproof.

I'm sure you will find a much more elegant way to do it than I have but that quick and dirty method has worked better for me than anything else.

Great ! Just got my Vanguard, Trucks, Bearings. Motors on their way

I have to admit that the vanguard is really thin, twice thinner as my FlyPan Fibertech deck ! I just don't like the transparent grip; I think the black would be better, more sleek; classy.

I am targeting a lot of work ahead with hopefully a really professional looking result at least with my limited tools. I really like the boosted board look and how they made it look a finished product step after step. I think it's really a success story. Of course, no BMS on this one.

For the driver, I would be looking for a 15mm aluminium one; but I still don't know if it worth going 9mm, especially for riding in Paris mainly on flat. My ADS 9mm drivers with GT3 Power Belt performs flawlessly; not any tear.

I also received my ABEC11 Flywheel 90mm wheels ... man... these are tank wheels ! I could roll over cats without any doubt.

For the lipos, still hesitating. I need to find out the advantage of putting 150C lipo that can be charged at 20C or just go the hobby king way... that's expensive anyway... either 400 USD vs 200 USD.

In reality, more than C rating... this is what we are talking about on the deck

Turnigy : 200 USD - 19.5mm height

Maxamp : 400 USD ++ / 22mm height (keeping in mind that Maxamp lipos are top notch quality lipos made by a quality company; here we are talking about the rolls).

Close to close

I am still hesitating, Maxamp would be the best choice because the size is just perfect for the vanguard... but I think I willl probably (I have a little concern on the fact that the lipo is 150mm.. with its discharge wire quite stiff.. not sure it will be easy to wire... and enclosure will be challenging) pull the trigger on the Turnigy (half the price). Big advantage for the Maxamp, except its cost.. is the fact that I could ask for a custom 12S pack... and everything will be neat.

Hope it helps.

a short flex (3) test - 70kg. Flex is really interesting where you put your feet. I jumped in the middle just for the fun of it. Of course, this is useless in ride condition. I will put a carbon topsheet.. this will make it a killer !

Enjoy !

oops, seems your image don't display; could you post them on another image hosting service?

only drawback, is that 150mm is a bit (only a bit) too long, as the discharge wires are pretty stiff ... aren't they?

up up, sl33py, could you post your images of the packs ? i don't see them displayed

Odd! They show for me. Anyone else? I'll re-link them here.

Also, i posted the GT2B > Badwolf on your tutorials section this morning. Feel free to edit/clean-up the horrible english-french google translation!

Those work? I moved them to another album. Probably since the first links were to my auto backup from phone which is likely secured differently (i could see but nobody else).

Thanks for your post on french forum, don't worry about Google translate, it enjoy my day :p.
I think okp will apply proper translate when he got time.

But big thanks for thinking of us.

thanks! works fine now !

how big is the pack if you put them as I did for my 3S 5AH ? I suspect that the discharge wire are a bit stiff aren't they?

the wires actually seemed pretty flexible - good quality silicone sheath wire (12g?).

Comparing your Turnigy 5000mAh 3s 20c vs Nano-tech 4500mAh A-Spec:
150x44x19.5mm vs 145x49x26mm

150mm length might make it difficult to have them sideways like you have them currently.

The Zippy 5000mAh 3s 20C packs i have for swapping into mine are 145x52x25mm.

got my motors today. I am quite impressed with the level of quality that Enertion has paid on details. Packaging is nice. The motors are also good looking, of course it does not make all as we are talking about electronics, but I will give my feedback once I got this wired / connected to my VESCs.

As previously posted here, the dual rear is possible on 184mm caliber trucks. I am using Torque Bolt On mount. I have not gone further in the building yet. I am not sure that I will be able to mount it with the internal circlip as it may not fit torque mount. I think that the circlip will not be able to rotate freely being blocked by the mount. I have to check.

Stay tuned!

well, now if I go dual drive I will have one red and one blue...lol

onloop said they were supposed to all be blue, but the first batch came in red, and the second was blue. from the looks of it, the first batch of red ones are all gone, and its blue from here on out

But ya, I agree with Sl33py, the blue ones look way better

motor mounts with calibers in all black looks beautiful. love stealthy color theme, cant have too much anodized colorful blingbling around my board due to german police ... all black is most likely the most stealth you can get. motors look beautiful too :)

will be interesting to see how you handle the ultra flexy vanguard vs component housing. fingers crossed you document it well - Ill probably try to laminate a fiber-case as well, but Ive worked with fibers and epoxyd before when I repaired my motorbike - it was a mess!! :p

what i dont understand though: you build everything yourself, come up with many cool solutions, but you keep buying these battery "toy" packs! I really think its time for you to make your own custom batteries with good cells! will be 1.8mm height and you can achieve any geometry you want.

heh, you are definitely right; The deal will be around the flex of the board, I think that if I keep all components close to the trucks, this should be perfect.

Well, I have no knowledge regarding lipolys, you see.. I am able to connect a capacitor.. without knowing that it has polarity !! I learn by my mistakes. Only big issue for me, is that a mistake with a lipo... could end badly in a small flat downtown!

But... as soon as I am finish self producting my 5 limited hand made series of GT2B epoxy/fiberclass release (which includes GT2B electronics)... I will deeply look at the lipo world as you suggested. That's for sure my next challenge. I know a bit of 3D modeling as well... from my 3D Studio good old days (a old/lost friend of mine has develop Unreal EPIC Motor + Graphics).. which I had also a CNC .... but unfortunately you cannot do that in a 40sq meter flat appartement.. or you get killed by your girlfriend !
