I've found that wearing a headlamp to be the best source of light. You can get a nice bright (200 lumen+) from a sporting goods store or walmart or whatever for abotu $40-50.
As a test I had mounted a pair of flashlights to my deck, but found it to be underwhelming. It's just too low to the ground to really be practical.
