I am looking for a replacement 36v battery for my 14 year old home built ebike. I built 2 of these bikes and both are still on their original batteries and motors. I originally fitted a 10 ah 36v Ping battery but it unfortunately the charger is cutting out at 42v and then battery voltage drops off so fast the charger comes back on almost instantly. So the cells don't balance and the charger will soon burn out . The bike does very little mileage at the moment but my wife uses it to go 1/2 mile backwards and forwards to work every day. I got excellent service from Ping but unfortunately he's a billionaire now so he no longer makes ebike batteries. its unlikely I will get service like that from another battery . I dont need a frame mounted battery. My Ping is just cells in shrink wrap. My motor is a brushed Heinzmann 36v with a max of about 30 amps. I don't think I want to build my own pack but I do want genuine cells and a reliable BMS. What are people using these days ?

Looks like both you and Ping (especially) did pretty damn good. How about some pics of your bike and Ping battery (with physical dimensions) so people can give you replacement suggestions?

If you think the battery is still good, consider instead buying a Grin Satiator charger. You can configure it for whatever charging cycle you want, and you'd have it for any other batteries you might have as well.

I thought of saturation charging. Or breaking down the battery to make a good 2.5 amp hour from the best cells. Thanks for the reply. Looking at the Grin charger it's very expensive. I could probably buy a new battery and charger for the same money. There is a good 60v lab power supply on Amazon that would charge it with care . https://www.amazon.co.uk/adjustable...2990361462-B0B121WMHN-&hvexpln=0&gad_source=1
