Hi guys new here been thinking about a mtb full suspension e-bike for a while now but have been building a custom 66 Scooby turbo camper which has kept me very busy up to now. You can check out my bus on my site http://www.topsoilproject.com/vw%20bus.html Have had lots of idea in the past but am now set on one design idea and wondered if you guys can help with the best quality parts for the best price.
So I am about to get hold of a 2004 Cannondale Jekyll.
Not wanting to use a hub motor as I like the idea of keeping the gears and also trying to centralize the weight of the bike as best as possible.
Would like a 48v 1000w motor that drives a freewheel crank, using a 48v 20ah lifepo4 battery. I have looked at the Cyclone kits and they look OK other than the price and the mounts which look like scrap to me. So I plan once I have all the parts together on designing a custom mount and having it CNC cut.
So what advice do I need, well here is a list.
1) Powerful and reliable motor 1000w or above.
2) Strong freewheel crank and bottom bracket.
3) Controller which will last, from what I have heard at this power they can burn out easy. I hear Lyen's controller is great.
4) Throttle control (thumb or half twist) that won't give me any problems.
Would also appreciate any electrical based safety advice relating to this project, don't like the idea of a fire between my legs.
Happy to turn this into a detailed thread of my build so thanks for your help in advance.
