I came across this product on the internet and thought it would be of interest to some readers. I am not affiliated with this company. The valid point that I take away from this is that if making my own system , the dual tone would be more effective. http://www.loudbicycle.com

i like how it said its legal everywhere in the us except for libraries...lol....and horn at long durations can cause hearing damage so dont be a "MASS HOLE" horn blower......funny stuff.... i used to have a little ringing bell and i remmeber several times ringing that bell like three times in a row and everyone outside walking heard it...u push really hard on those bells you can make some noise....but the taxi driver didn't hear the horn he did however notice the people stopping to stare and stopped but several hundred times i have been in situations where a horn could be crucial....i think this is a hit...so how much was it..i couldn't find it and they said they are in production of second gen...now so pre order...i guesse that means pre pay? looks like it has a ubs power supply phone charger type power supply and batteries..the add said they last one month the batteries...did they mean to say the horn last one or two hours of honk times per charge?

3 engineering degrees and that's the best idea they can come up with!
It's not aero, light weight nor particularly clever. You would think the y would have integrated a light Into it to make carrying those batteries around worth while in between the occasional toot.

$4 on eBay and this one is not the cheapest.

I lock the rear wheel half a second. My 3" tire is screaming loud, catching attention better than any horn.

I'd rather just use (dual-tone) car horns...oh, wait, I do. :) Then I can run them off my lighting pack (or DC-DC / PSU if I ever find one powerful enough I can salvage), since that already runs automotive-voltage and types of lights.

Truck horns or others would work just as well...if I had them (but the car horns were free, so...).

I don't think my horns (the pair of them) weigh as much as this device does, though they might be uglier. ;) But they are waterproof (or rather, water-tolerant, being designed to be udner the hood of a car, and also thus very heat tolerant and quite durable).

Not electric, but here's my solution

I tried one a few years ago, but jokers kept honking it to death if I left it attached to the bike when parked. Lasted longer when I kept it in my non-throttle hand during the day; at night I use a bozo blaster high powered flashlight.
