Hey all, I just upped my voltage from 83v to 95v and when i switched off the controller I noticed a puff of smoke come out of it.

It is a 18 FET Lyen Low RDS MOSFET Overclocker Ready controller. I opened it up and I am not sure if it is possible, but i think a capacitor vented and oozed a smelly liquid everywhere.

I would like to know:
What causes this, is 95v too high?
Can simply replace this capacitor?
Could this happen again?
Is something else likely to be damaged?

Thank you,
Chris

Kinda odd that controller having a 63v cap in it. If you asked for a 60-90v controler, I'd be wanting to know why it had a 63v cap. Are all the caps same?

You ask for a 72v controller or a 48v controller?

Hey Dogman, thanks for the reply.

I contacted Lyen about this and he said that he must have left this 63v cap in by mistake. He has offered to send me a 470uF 100V cap free of charge.
I'm happy to buy another as i'm sure they are fairly cheap.

Would i be correct in saying that this cap should also be 100v?
