Manufacturers/liquidaters

Thanks for the info!

This guy has been around for a coon's age. He buys and resells pretty much everything electronic.

If you want parts, this is the best place to get them cheap. I've shopped around a few places in Toronto. Sayal is a good one too, Vic park N of Steeles. Sayal stuff is all new though, and they have just about any cable you could possibly want.

A1 is mostly new for small components (resistors, switches, soldering stations etc) but they have a buttload of used stuff in the larger sizes, cases, transformers, toroids, speakers, etc.

Surprisingly, the owner is ACTUALLY HELPFUL. Which is a major departure from the way most of these used/surplus electronics places. Active Surplus has a company policy (I think) of condescending to customers, and giving answers that sort of make you feel like an idiot most of the time. Lots of good stuff at Active, but A1 is cheaper.

here's another one that I check out somewhat regularly.

One day, I hope to have a boom mounted stereo microscope with fiber optic lighting by a major company. Someday.

Active Surplus has opened another location at 5601 Steeles Ave. and Pine Valley Dr. I use their 8ga red audio cables for batteries wiring. They look fat and cool and drop much less voltage than standard 10 AWG wires and cost only $1 per foot. For Terminals I use Sayal's ring terminals from Creditstone location which they have on special for $5 a box of 25. Much better then standard setup. For main power lines Active surplus has great 4GA audio cable, but make sure you get the brown one, since not all their cables of the same size are actually the same, pay attention and compare the copper size. 8ga red and 4ga brown are the thickest. Also Active surplus in the downtown Toronto has nice 8awg red wired fuse housings only for $4 and fuses for 50c only. The best connectors for such wiring would be 50A Anderson which are only $4 as well at the store in Pickering for instance.
