If you want to post articles here on ES, please post the articles *here*. Just linking to your site could be considered spam.

The problem is that he has a site that has ads on it, that he (or someone) gets revenue from. Driving traffic from ES to that site without really contributing to ES directly could be considered spamming.

Others have done it before, and have also been asked to post the articles. Some did and stayed as contributors to ES, some didn't and left ES as non-contributors.

I noticed that the page linked to a "report" being sold by two unknown guys from who knows where......... It is a new and novel form of spam though: Selling crap "articles" and "reports" as opposed to selling crap stuff, that's a new one for me.

There's plenty of ad-based sites out there, and their existence continues if they have traffic that clicks the ads. To get more revenue they have to get more traffic, so they have to spam their links to other sites that might have people that would do what they want.

This particular person might not be intending to do that, but without posting the full articles here on ES as well as the link, that is effectively what he is doing, by not giving those that would like to see the info the choice between doing it here, with no ads, and going there, where there are ads.

I am, of course, familiar with click bait and ad view based compensation, but this seems to be different. The first link is a supposedly third-party article about The Report which exists to give a veneer of credibility. In their puff piece there is a link to another site where The Report is being sold as a cash product, that is the new twist for me. Selling The Report as a product is a great idea: no product returns, no manufacturing defects, no warranty issues, etc. and the buyers won't know the difference between real data and made up data.

It's SEO stuff. If he knows his stuff, he knows one post is all he needs here, two won't be twice as good. Spam, but kind of harmless.

Funny, he made me look, but I'd already looked at that article last week and found it boring.

Hehe... Thing is, ES Krew/gang/membership/size/wattEVer is so large now... "eyes on the ground"... anything "new" in electric vehicles is probably/maybe posted here already?

That Navigant report estimating future size/growth in ebike sales had already popped up here before Mark posted his message (search ES for "navigant").

I recently had to remind myself to earch ES for "key words". To "research" any subject/point I maybe care to add/contribute here on ES, `cause there's a good chance it's been mentioned here already.
