Melb Australia Group ride Sat 10th Nov 2012

Pm sent.

What!

Dis someone say group ride? Dressup in character?

Hell Yeah!

May even have the Davinci build running by then. Otherwise my hubbie is in fine form.

Well I had a 14-week post Humerous breakage trial ride today, during the sunny spells.

And it went quite well.

Except for getting on the bike, steering, stopping, dismounting, which were all a bit challenging....

Have to see what the next 4 weeks brings...

What a shame we didn't get together for Ausbike, didnt think of that. We could have had Maurice and any other interstaters along...

I'll be out tomorrow, studley park area, if anyone is around. Mid morning
Saw someone on an ebike today (Sunday) on the singletrack at Banyule ~11:30am. Was it you?

It was my bike. Ridden by a mate back to my house after drinking too much in the garage on Sat night. He said he got a lot of looks.

Yeah definitely wasn't me. shite day with it raining on and off.

I met a bunch of older people who are in a ebike riding group, they seemed cool.

Gave them my card and told them to email next time they are out on a ride.

Just so we're on the same page, ebikes main demographic in aust is 55+ :|

I`d like to come along if I can get the day off work . I dont go to the city often ( ever ) so if we are meeting at Fed square where would I park the car ? I don`t mind parking 5 or so kays from fed square but I honestly have no idea where to park .

Why don't you park somewhere around here: https://maps.google.com.au/maps?q=Yarra+Bend+Road,+Fairfield,+Victoria&hl=en&ll=-37.799035,145.009639&spn=0.002764,0.005804&sll=-37.799544,145.009178&sspn=0.005527,0.011609&oq=yarra+bend+road&hnear=Yarra+Bend+Rd,+Fairfield+Victoria+3078&t=m&z=18
at the 'end' of the ride.

There's plenty of parking there, and you just have to cross the suspension bridge to the boathouse. Then you can ride into town to the start of the ride, and ride back out with everyone - then go straight home. Slightly backwards, but no parking worries!

I will most likely do the same and either ride into town or train it into fed square - it's nice to have my car at the end of the ride...

I'll probably meet up at Yarra Bend too. I live out that side of the city.

I'll probably meet up at the convent. It's close to Victoria Park station as I remember.

So are interstate special guests still welcome ?
As it turns out I'm flying down to Melbourne for work Sunday arvo (11th) but can probably get a flight a day earlier if you Mexicans make it worth my while :p

Who's got a spare pony for me ? Kepler, your bomber will do
I'm looking forward to legally enjoying using 250w of power on the road there *cough*

The more the merrier. I def have a spare if needed, but couldnt compete with John's ride. Will be good to meet you!

Happy to bring another demo euro bike from the store for ya!

Really just an excuse to get my tow bar fitted
:/

Or an excuse to finish my 24ah 10s pack on the skateboard and ride that

Hyena you're really just an excuse to spend money, an expesive classy ebike whore  the best kind of tramp hombre

Bulls eye

Thanks for the offer of lending your rides, I'll get back to you closer to the date once I know my movements. I'll likely be staying in the CBD sunday night but saturday is currently up in the air.

Cool, I've been looking at e-skateboards for ages but given I was never a mad skater back in the day I've been reluctant to pull the trigger on something that I'd likely ride twice and then go back to my bikes. They'd be great for leaving in the boot of the car though for when you quickly need to get somewhere where driving or parking is hassle.

Mmmm Hyena you bloody well better come :)

I'll prolly have a number of ponies available, though unlikely I'll have a 2kw or greater machine by the 10th....

How tall are you dude?

I've got a super-granny, unisex frame 500w front wheel drive, including detachable basket and panniers currently full of thunderskies, that is a scream to overtake lycras with, but is a bit small for my 6' frame
http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=235&start=930#p654017

I'm building a taller Front wheel build... the usual Frankencycle legal 25km/h or 500w 50 km/h which should be done by the 10th as well as a dual suspension rear-wheel build, and I have my "shop-bike" front suspension hardtail MTB running at 350w that's good enough for whatever offroad you might throw at it on a gentle (for you :) ) day... All of them are more accomodating for taller folk.

'nuff batteries to run two of the above mentioned for 60 odd kms distance ...
So yeah... your choice of rides just got bigger... Though not necessarily better

(oh 'n I do have an electric skateboard as well courtesy of NechAus :) me... too scared to ride it just yet. )

Sorry due to my health conditions I'm unable to ride anything less than 1500w :p
I'm on the shorter side, around 5'8.
Thanks for the offer of multiple rides. Good to see in true ES fashion few of us have just 1 ebike :)

aaah, YOU ended up buying that! I was considering it too but decided to instead relieve Jason of a whopping big 5kw chain drive motor. Err, I mean 250w
