Scooter no go. Diagnose problem to be dead batteries. There are two of these BW1235DC-NB

BW1235DC-NB Specifications

Took the 2 batteries to battery store. Battery guy tested them with a load tester that looks like this.

One battery was bad. Bad as in RED. Other one was week. Week as in YELLOW.

I have a brain storm! See a whole pallet of used batteries. See one the same size as my scooter battery. Ask battery guy if we could trade my dead battery for the one on his pallet. He says yes. Now I got this used battery.

Had a lot of fun with lead acid date codes. Here is a Interstate Battery date code chart.

Go home and test it .5V :( Charge with my 6 amp car charger. Put scooter all back together. It works! :)

Yesterday I get a call from Scooter Girl. Battery capacity is not so good. She can not travel as far as she did before this bad battery episode.

Need recommendations on new battery or batteries. 2 - 12V batteries are wired in series for 24V. The speed that this things goes now is plenty fast. Any faster and it would tip over when going around corners.

G'day Marty.
Replacing just 1 battery is false economy. Without getting too technical, the weak battery will kill the stronger one during charging.
What that scooter uses is a matched pair of 12 volt 35 amp hour deep cycle gel or AGM batteries. Car starter batteries are cheaper but are not deep cycle & with cyclic use the thinner plates warp & the batt fails unexpectedly leaving the poor user stranded. Again, false economy.
Remember, for a mobility scooter user, reliability is prime. They can't just get up & walk home.
