The price on this is obscene, but really what would it take to upgrade the speed
Chuckles.

The front wheels could be upgraded to bigger wheels easy enough by using a longer axle so the wheels clear the plastic wheel well. The rear wheel would take some more work. Probably the easiest would be to run a second axle under the first one and replace the wheels with a small sprocket and chain to drive the second axle.

... and of course replce the controller. hehe

can you lean when taking corner at 30mph on that things? If yes, then it's a possibility. That'll definitely shield you from the soda people will hurl at you from cars.

LOL, I was thinking the same thing. It's COG is awful in comparison to it's wheelbase. I bet I could push it over with one hand.

Well he is talking about widening the wheelbase. Getting a registration for it would be no picnick. Most likely have to go NEV and be stuck at under 25mph anyway. I would roll nice all three ways though, sideways, frontways, backways, who needs wheels with that shape.

So it doesn't flip after all, just pops back up like a punching clown. That would work. And it would make a great NEV for cold or rainy places. Here it would just be a solar oven most of the year, like all our cars.

75Ah, but at how many volts? I still thing one good tackle and the thing would tip over like a cow.

(LOL, weird analogy, FTW.)

Totally cool. I have a mobility scooter that I bought at an obscenely low price. It works great once I fixed the brake sensor switch. But I'm too embarrassed to be seen on it, so I need to mod it to be cooler looking.

Rather than the enclosed "pod" design, I was thinking more of a dragster look..... but anyone have other ideas?

Myself, I'd put a hamster-wheel on the nose, with a fake hamster inside... rigged so the legs move when the wheel turns from airflow. Nobody will even look at the mobility-factor at that point.

I priced one them at shoppers home care $8.000

get a fortress 2000 http://www.activelite.com/mp_fortress_2000_scooter.htm

the motor is a 36 v 40 amp 1500 watt they only run it at 24 volts 40 amp 500 watts replace the controller

have custom hubs that will allow larger wheels to be mounted on the rear.

I run 13" rear tires on mine instead of the 10 inch

this alone with 24 volts almost doubles the speed

that's frank's old fortress I run the same tires but with a tread and have the newer style fortress

also cut out the battery box to fit 2 8G24 12V, 73 AH if your gona run 24 volts I have had trips of over 50 miles

I really like the hopped up rear wheels -- it gives it the dragster look.

Any other suggestions how we can de-grannify these machines?

I'm thinking I need to replace the captain's chair with something less geriatric.

i like my captains chair im still running 24 volts on mine check out franks fortress conversion

Is that Toonsis on the seat? The driving cat!

I read the scooter subject line, and it reminded me of the electric GoCart I built for my son :D The transaxle was salvaged from a mobility scooter.

Here is a link to the web page about it:

Funny you should mention modding a mobility scooter, because I have access to a 24 volt 500 watt Pride, and I wondered how much it would take to make it go faster than 5 mph! I thought that maybe taking out the reduction gear box and running the chain drive directly to the axle might help some, but now I see an easier way i.e. larger wheels. My question about that is: Are there hubs available to change out for larger wheels or would you have to fabricate your own? Also, would a change to 36 volts be helpful? And that dang front end has to go! I would want to mod it so much you couldn't tell it was originally a mobility scooter!

you will have to fabricate your own hubs .
I use 13 wheel barrow tires but im going to switch to 12 inch trailer tires for longer life and better tread .
you could go up to 36 volts but you will need good controller
I pull a 3 ' x 3 1/2 ' ATV utility trailer with my scooter . I have moved washers and dryers , with it I also get my groceries
with the trailer and save close to 15 bucks in taxi fares a trip

my scooter get used as a work horse I also plow the snow with it I drop a large shovel across the front every winter and clamp it down at an angle to keep a narrow lane clear till my landlord get the snowblowers in here

Greetings covid survivor... never too late to do you have any pictures?

True. I apologize; I assumed... it was wishful thinking. His post survived and the thought lives on.
