What part of the pedal driveline is worthy of a patent?
Totally agree! A patent for a jack shaft in the pivot with two FW's!! Lawyers running amok!

there is only one freewheel.. from the pedal cranks to the jackshaft..
a freewheel on the motor side would not last long under high power..

With 25kw?:
http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=62040&start=75#p943703
25,000 watt Motoped with 3kwh of nano-tech

So, my twin motor drives, and single motor drives that pull more than 10,000 watts will come with this new shaft. The large pulley hub is, now, stainless rather than the original aluminum and is TIG welded to the shaft. This eliminates one potential failure point (hub mounting to the shaft) and is EXTREMELY strong. The freewheel adapter is stainless also. It is made in a way that is reverse-able. So, switching from right hand drive to left hand drive is as simple as removing the freewheel and the adapter as a unit and flipping it around on the shaft and reinstalling it. Super simple.

So Recumpence deserves a patent for his. The phrase is 'It's not the idea, it's the EXPRESSION.' If it can be done many ways, you have to do it a way that isn't patented. It's the cost and effort of development that's protected rather than the idea.

some juice for the motoped followers.. :

maybe soon product will start to flow instead of trickle... ???

Excellent build, so clean and simple. I will be doing a similiar setup with a big block GNG motor. Video shows plenty of room for packs where the gas tank use to be. My dual design was to leave the gas tank, but it's easy enough to tear down completely and switch to batts during the week then move to gas for the weekends.

This version looks sick. Are you sure about the price? Can't find this one on their face or web.

that is an electric motoped prototype built by ES forum member "magudaman" ..
the original electric motoped builder.. http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22560&start=125#p768758
unfortunately that exact motoped design will likely never come to market..
in case you didn't read the article i posted above, Motoped has been sold/ bought out by pitbike manufacturer MotoVox.. and i don't think magudaman is still affiliated with motoped??..
but hopefully the buyout will put motoped manufacturing and distribution back on track with more designs to come including electric motopeds and kits..
here is a pic of the electric motoped proto from facebook (complete w some BS marketing hype;).. :
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=237877076369147&set=a.231344633689058.1073741828.220462291443959&type=1&theater

what is your question on price???
motoped frame is selling for ~$600
motoped roller (no motor) ~$2K
(but there is no stock currently ready to ship due to the change in ownership, manufacturing, etc..)
electric motoped kit from Race Proven Motors ~$3.5K (does not include motoped bike)
https://www.facebook.com/raceprovenmotors

but maybe magudaman is still building electric motopeds since this website is still up???

How is something that heavy and large a "survival bike"?

Seems to me a survival bike would be something lightweight and portable with as few parts as possible you could carry with you in the woods and over rocky terrain when not on a smooth path.

It's pretty light considering it has a gas engine. Not much you can take away without going full carbon. Most of the weight comes from the engine. With the new smart carb, range has almost doubled from what I've read.

Never seen rotors bigger then 203 mm. That 242 mm rotor looked bad ass.

there using hayes stroker ace 9" rotors..
not real common on mountain bikes
but with motor power and higher speeds it helps..
(make sure your fork is rated for large rotors)

Damn man that video was awesome. And what a cool intro - where have I heard that before?
Looks like a heck of a time.

Enjoy your slip and slide 8)

Nice. Got pics of those two bikes? One seems like a motoped build care to share pics and specs?

the drift trike and ebike are both motoped builds..
the motoped trike add on kits and updated electric kits will hopefully become available (soon;)
but maybe just more inspiration for now.. :)
