Hi,

I have a Motorino XPn and my 48v SLA battery pack just swelled up and died on me so I’m looking to upgrade to a better battery system. I am looking for some advice on a battery purchase. I am sticking with 48v although I was tempted to go to 60v.

Got it narrowed down to three providers, I am sure someone here has bought one of these.

In no particular order.

Mr. Scooterboost

He states 22AH but the picture clearly shows 20AH. I can drive to his place so I don’t have to worry about shipping.

Ping Battery

With PayPal you have some recourse if there is and issue.

This AliExpress one looks decent
http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/48V-20Ah-LiFePO4-Battery-1000W-BMS-6A-Charger-FOR-E-BIKE-Free-Shipping/328001_821460991.html

AliExpress does offer full refund if item not received.

Go with the Ping, they have been in business for a good while and have proven repeatedly that they sell good products and have great customer service. Ali Express is hit and miss. Mr Scooterboost has a bad reputation on the the Toronto Electric Riders Association forums where he started to advertise at first.

I have a Gio scooter, 48v, and I went with a LifePo4 pack from Sun-Thing28 on eBay and I couldn't be happier. It is similar to Ping's design, and he has various sizes, EX: 48v 20ah, 48v25ah, etc…

Cost was half of the others, and it came with a 5 amp charger.

You can have it shipped by Air Mail (1-2 weeks) or by slow boat (7-8 weeks) which reduces cost significantly .

I have been using it for a few weeks now, and it balances quickly, and holds a 53-54v charge after a few days sitting idle.

I hope this helps, IAN…

Thank you for the replies.

I checked out all the links and I think I will go for Ping. I spent the summer using a pedal only bike, makes me realize how lazy I had become always using my electric bike. It was hard to build up endurance for longer rides. Recently I noticed that Ping has a newer V5 model out which he says is even better. Is it me or does his price seem slightly better now for the same battery than V4 batteries.

Just to add I purchased a couple parts from mr scooterboost, he was pretty cool and helpful, helps I guess if you're a local in the Lower Mainland area in BC, rather than Toronto.
