Mounting Gearbox & Motor Aluminum Frame - Weld? Bond?

For recumbents, how about a TerraCycle Easy Reacher Rack? URL: http://www.terracycle.com/

That's what I used for my mount, and it fits beautifully: http://gregg.berkholtz.net/wiki/doku.php?id=recchetta

There is an alternative to TIG welding when working with non-magnetic metals.

I've gotten some of these rods myself for my build (haven't tried it yet), but looks relatively easy to use. Just needs a torch.

We've used that stuff here before for some cracked aluminum fairing stays. I've said it before- it can work and work well if you prep correctly!

I actually had used alumiweld brazing sticks on different portions of my project and it seems quite sturdy. The one big issue I had was with putting together multiple pieces. As I would heat up one area the heat traveled quickly to the other side remelting my previous work. Due to the smaller nature of the part (motor mount) I was unable to keep the work clamped as I added new pieces of aluminum, so in the end I recut the aluminum and just tapped the aluminum running 8/32 bolts through sandwiching some jbweld inbetween and the piece turned out more than strong enough for my motor.
