Hello all,
First - thank you all *(hyena, AJ and all the rest for not continually riding me about when I was going to finally move to the RC arena)...
Second - thank you to Recumpence for his patients these past few months as time would creep up and I would approach him for a drive system but then family heck would break loose and I just couldnt justify buying it all and leaving it in boxes... Also for what I am sure was repeating answers to questions at least twice - it's not that I don't pay attention, just so much brain storage remaining and I loose things sometimes (in my memory).
Finally - Thanks to Jeremy Harris, Tiberious, Gary Goodrum, Fechter, Miles, AussieJester, Amberwolf, Hyena, Kepler and EVTodd, LiveForPhysics, Methods, Lyen, Knuckles, phillf, and all the rest of you guys! You have each inspired me in various ways. One thing common of all these fine ES members and Gentlemen, they will (or have for me) always taken the time to try to either help me understand a concept delaing with electronics which I may be over complicating, mechanical dead ends, beautiful works of art make with little more than elbow grease, precision measurements (or gigs) and some reasonable welding - down to the just beautiful "finished/polished" products offered by some which are truly a testiment of what 6-9 months and the desire for a more robust sustem. Let me not forget keywin for supplying a large portion of the bare PCBs upon which frankentroller Infineon (or Xie Chang if you must be specific).
So...
The plan is:
Astro 3210 10t running HV110 (initially - until I have halls mounted)
2" Mounting arm for v3 4:1 belt reduction (to fit oblong dahon downtube - with spacers)
16t eno output
39 - 53 Left side Drive 130mm BCD chainring and the ISO Disc to 130mm BCD adapter from Recumpence
My initial plan is to go for a total of 10.5:1 and work back and forth, I have many rear chainrings to play with coming
Once this is sorted my disc compatible 26" rear (and new 20" disc rear) with the SA3 internal hubs will be finished (freehub) and will receive #25 chain for simplicity to a large rear drive sprocket via Gary Goodrums 3spd adapter... Giving motor and pedals rear isolation (no moving chains when not powered, no drag) and 3 top speeds allowing a further reduction even for more accelleration torque (with the gears worked out to be 15-20 mph apart, would allow for better power band with these motors).
All payments have been sent, any comments suggestions - heads up, good resources for perhaps the best method and proper placement for installing the halls (Ive done outrunners but not inrunners and never astros) - can the halls be added outside.
If you can't understand - for 200.00 I can build a controller capable of 83v maximum and 100+ volt bursts in a reasonable form factor and even stealth (bar bag or somthing) if active cooling is used - I know some have had issues but I have somthing of an understanding on how to test these and tune them for maxmimum output power - which is why I average 6-7mph faster on given current and voltage and motor over another equally weighted and sized rider without pedaling.
The 100+ Volts would be Battery Current - Phase Could be between 2 and 2.5, but I've recently discovered some more information about this differential and though I need to confirm it with bench testing it appears as if the proper value for this is a variable taken from the FET current multiplication specification on the data sheet (someone please correct me if I am wrong!).. .that would mean if the FET was rated for 3x amplification 100v primary current should be set for 300A phase currents. Again one of the experts can help with this and save me a blown controller or I'm going to play with it a bit.
Well... I will post more details tommorow and yes I would love an ICE160 with logging but also - I would rather sensor and go slightly larger but better at heat dissipation controllers with immediate torque and GO from ZERO without sync issues. Even if I rode it in the same config as a hub motor (25A and 2.5X for Phase Curent) on stock FETs and setup the RC would produce 20-30% more torque and higher speeds at the same voltages with appropriate gearing reduction!
The plan initially is the HV110 - I have a fechter throttle interface board I haven't assembled but I may just either work out my own limiting interface (to allow for other portions of protection circuits to engage) - not even sure the HV110 would support my 90% of the time useage with 52A maximum (525 in oz or 90% efficiency) and some form of doubler to 104A but only for turbo mode.
Again any feedback, suggestions, ideas... last minute "DONT DO IT PLEAS".
The pack I plan to begin with is fresh (< 30 cycles) and will begin as 12S5P 25AH so max drain is 2C (should be 2/3C on average I think) which should with conservative riding give me a nice range and efficiency.
