My hub motor is not spinning.

Hi,

I just bought a new hub motor conversion kit. When we test it in the shop where I bought this kit, it worked fine.
But upon testing it at home it doesn't work at all. What may be the problem?

the shop where I bought this is 90 miles away from home so it will be a hassle to go to that store.
I also want to learn troubleshooting e-bike so when the time comes I know what to do.

BTW, what tests should I do to see which part is causing this problem?

Thanks guys.

90% of the time, it's a plug not making contact. Look hard at all plugs, look for pins in the plug not fully seated into the housing.

If the display lights up, it's not the battery plug, so look at the plugs to the motor, and to the throttle. Make sure switches on the handlebars aren't an off switch. There may be a switch elsewhere, on the battery, on the controller, etc.

hi, it seems that all my plugs are making contact I tried doing a continuity test with a multi meter from one end of wire to another and it's ok..
when I tried to test my throttle wires it's giving 0.00 voltage reading on my multimeter set at 20V-DC.

Battery is full charged horns and lights are all working.
It's just the hub. It's driving me crazy already.

I don't know what to do..

Please help me.

Does your bike have a display, and is it lit?

Throttle should have a 5v line present. This is supplied by the controller. I suspect the controller is not turned on. Perhaps it has a wire spare that you need to show battery voltage to bring it on.

Has it ever tried to turn the wheel?

I only got this battery meter.. all the lights are on so it means that it is full charged.

I don't see any switches in the controller. I tried to test the hub directly to a 12V supply and it is spinning.

but when I connect it on the controller it doesn't spin. the head light and horn is working.
It has a brake switch but I haven't tested it..

Starting to look like the controller is not working, or the throttle.

you should stop and go get a real voltmeter. just smashing and bashing without knowing whether there is a voltage present on a specific wire is worse than shooting in the dark because you can make things worse without even knowing what you did.
