Hi all,
I've been trolling the forums here for a few months and finally deciding to pull the trigger. I've looked at alot of builds and combed through all of the electronics selected. I'm a long time RC guy so none of the electronics configs are complex but I want to get a second set of eyes to look at my build based oin what I want it to do.

Desires:
1) Haul my 205lb body around fairly short distances (<5 miles)
2) Be easy to ride (good learning board for both me and my friends)
3) Able to climb some hills as I live in Colorado

The build:

Board) http://www.amazon.com/RIMABLE-RM-LB...UTF8&qid=1442604842&sr=1-8&keywords=longboard
Motor) 2x Turnigy Aerodrive SK3 - 6354-260kv http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/..._Brushless_Outrunner_Motor_US_Warehouse_.html

Motor Mount) 2x http://diyelectricskateboard.com/welded-electric-skateboard-motor-mounts-180mm-paris-trucks/ I'll have to find someone to weld them on for me or make my own clamping style as I have access to 3d printer and CNC mill to mill aluminum pretty easily. Thinking diagonal setup

Gears) I'm looking at HTD5 gears but I'm not sure which gear ratio to go with yet. Seems like 18Tx 38T seems to be pretty popular.

Batteries) I have a bunch of Zippy 3s 5000mah for my multirotors that I plan on turning into 6s, maybe 6s2p

ESC) I'm open for suggestions, leaning towards two of these at the moment http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/...A_Brushless_Car_ESC_sensored_sensorless_.html

Controller) Wiiceiver http://austindavid.com/jm3/index.php/hardware/3-wiiceiver

Wheels) I'd like to go pretty big here as not all roads are super smooth. I'm not willing to jump up to the mountain board type wheels though so I'm thinking something easy to mount a drivewheel on in the 83mm-90mm

Thanks in advance!
Yimmy

This is good page to calculate gear ratios and top speed.

the esc you linked is only suitable for 3s. 3s could work but it'll be awfully slow. You need at least 4s, but ideally 5s and 6s is better.

Nice, I missed that, TY. So now I'm looking for a good ESC...

Is a dual drive with these motors excessive or about right given rider size?

I can recommend the VESC which is an absolutely amazing piece of hardware with equally as awesome software to back it up.

You can see the info at vedder.se/2015/01/vesc-open-source-esc/

There are a very limited suppliers who have these available with me being one of them. If you decide this would be the route you will take for your ESC I am happy to supply you as many as you need.

You can view my VESC production thread and follow along my progress of building Benjamins hardware from a PCB production facility here: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=71226

The ezrun 150 pro is a good ESC and will run a voltage up to 28v. I used one when I first crossed over to eboarding, only heats up if you do a lot of starts from a dead stop in a row. Probably not an issue if you leave the fan on it, I removed mine.

Hindsight being 20/20 I should have ordered one of diyelectricskateboards 12s ESC's for more voltage options as a first esc. I would say get yourself a VESC but at this time no one offers a preprogrammed unit for sale so it could end up being a little frustrating for a first time builder.

A dual motor setup is definitely the way to go if you want to do a lot of heavy accelerating or hill climbing but isn't necessary if you are building on a budget. I have had a single sk3 take me up to 30mph without any issues, it only complains at low speeds due to my insane gear ratio.
