Hi everyone. I like the connectors used on the Ebike.ca Cycle Analyst and would like to use them on other purposes. Can anyone tell me what they are referred to in the industry?

I would also like to replace all the connectors (hall sensors, ebrakes, speed switch etc.) on my motor controller. Any recommendations on some good quality multi-pin arrangement connectors. The cheap connectors that are on the controller now are sore spot for me.

Thanks!

The CA standard plugs are called JST, I have purchased JST cables and plugs from Lyen before. He sells controllers on this site (new items for sale)

Something like Molex C-Grid would probably be better quality and readily available from electronics wholesalers. There is crimp tooling available for these and other similar connectors that is relatively inexpensive (around $100). This same tooling can also be used with the MicroFit connectors for higher current applications...

They are indeed JST connectors from the "SM" series. Crimped with a D-Sub crimper. We sell a mixed bag of them on the Grin website (ConBag) but you may be able to source them from elsewhere too. You can find higher quality connectors than the JST-SM ones too but they do the job pretty well overall.

I like the JST SM connectors and I think they are great but I think you (rscamp) are right, the Molex Micro-Fit might be a better choice overall because of the availability and the tooling. I'm going to order both the Molex Micro-Fit and JST SM connectors from Digikey and compare the quality of the two connectors. Thanks so much!

TNC Scooters sells the black JST SM 6-pin connector pair for $.50. You can crimp by hand, or buy the blue handle crimpers. Both are on this page:
