Nasty LiPo fire

i would just attach them to a bike on a 10m rope and go for a nice ride

I've got around 10 various packs that are damaged and need to be neutralized (with fire).

I'm sure you can come up with a way to burn those lipos involving a bike at 50+mph and the fire suit :lol:

Failing that figuring out a way to fire them out a spud gun while burning might be entertaining. :lol:

Perhaps you could implement some of the fire-suppression methods posted previously?
*it wouldn't be a big "fire-show", and therefore might not be as entertaining... but it would sure be more contributing to the potential safety systems one could use on their own packs.

Put some in a sealed and tight fitting aluminum box and give it a go from behind a protective screen. For grins add one to the video that is just the fizzle of a duct tape only pack.

I was just looking at the discharge graphs on page 9 of this thread,
one cell is obviously different, I'm not familiar with discharge graphs,
but my first impression was that odd cell was holding its voltage better than the other 9 cells?
So it was in fact a better cell than the other ones, am I missing something? misinterpreting the graphs?

could you test a few with a steel ammo box? i found a place that sells them in bulk for $14 each all sizes :wink:

This incident makes me feel better about buying 16 headway cells over 4 lipo bricks... I live in a wooden house, so safety is really worrying me, I dont want my bike to ignite randomly :x I'm a r/c lipo junkie, and would just love to be able to use cheap 25c lipo from HK, but seriously they are a lot of trouble.
Lipo is good for racing/high perf apps, if you have a fireproof place to store and charge.
I want lipo power to weigth with something as safe as A123 that i've been using for a while, and as cheap as rc lipo or headways...
So headways for me until next breaktrougth brings a safer chemistery. I hate compromising perf and paying more for less power but...

What are the safest chemisteries around?
