Like they're looking for retired healthcare workers to spend a little time in New York.
So when I was a teenage college student I didn't mess with it myself, but it was quite the debate among those I knew whether they wanted to study COBOL or not. So the one guy who took just a few classes and joined the army said they kept him busy, but when he got home there wasn't much work and he wound up out of computers rather than going back and learning something new.
Two of my sisters wound up with husbands working in the same place, running, you guessed it. So the company was going to upgrade and one got to work and learned something new then found another job before the upgrade, the other got laid off but got another job. Sisters divorced both of them, don't know how the careers progressed.
Dang, they're still running COBOL, eh? A lot of these companies have the legacy systems department, where everyone fears for their job but they don't seem to actually lose it.
