My workbench PC died recently. I traced the problem to a blown fuse in the Coolmax CR-450B power supply. I am assuming for now that the cause was an AC line brownout (I didn't have it on a UPS) so I'd like to just try another fuse for now. The fuse presses into a couple of prongs on the power supply circuit board so replacement is simple.

The problem is that I can't figure out what the replacement fuse is. The blown fuse is a 5mm x 20mm glass type with the markings T8L250V. I understand the 250V rating, but I don't know what the fuse current rating is. I could guess that it might be 8A from the T8L designation but that sounds too high for a 450W supply. Also, I don't know whether it is fast-blow or slow-blow type. The innards have disintegrated. I have searched the web for this particular model fuse and have come up empty. I'm hoping one of the PC gurus that frequent this site might have an answer.

Additional symbols on the fuse: W with a dot over it (Westinghouse brand?) before the T8L250V marking

Additional symbols on opposite end of fuse: c RL us (the R and L are each imprinted backwards)

A 450watt power supply at 100% efficiency would draw 4 amps, so an 8 amp fuse sounds about right. Many switching power supplies use slow blow fuses. I would just make make a fused line cord with an 8A SB in it and short out the old fuse.

But Me thinks you have something else gone wrong, other than a brown out, if the fuse is absolutely obliterated inside.

Wait for another's input before proceeding, dont do anything on just my word. It has been a decade since I worked on power supplies.

Try a ammeter across the fuse and check the draw. It does sound like a short in the power supply.
