I picked up the Altered M6 All terrian electric skateboard from the link below and its ariving in a few hours. Rob the owner of Blueplanetsurf was kind enough to offer me the board without the sla batteries. I need a battery pack FAST because looking at this thing and not being able to ride it is going to be torture:) I honestly have no idea what so ever what to buy anymore. When I got out of ebiking 4 years ago I considered lifepo4 to be the best. I am going to be feeding a 30-40a controller I need a 36v pack. The board has an optional 36v 20ah lifepo4 pack but they charge 800+ bucks for it. Range is very important to me. I want at least 15-20ah+. I live near NYC and I will literally be using this as a daily driver.

I am trying to pick my own parts but I dont understand exactly what I need. I went to HobbyKing as they have a USA warehouse. I assume I can not buy a single pack that size from inside of the USA so I have to put it together. I have no idea how many cells I need, what kind of bms, what connections ect. If you look below the demensions of the box are listed. I know I am asking alot but if anyone could find it in there heart to throw me a bone I will forever love you!

Requirements:
-must be sourced from inside of the USA.
-36v
-15-20+++AH
-Must fit in 6.5 inch wide, 4 inch deep and 11 inch long compartment
-must have bms system
-will consider any battery type
-must be as cheap as possible but still reliable

4 p of the HK 5000 mha packs will be 20 ah. 5000 mha = 5 ah.
To get 36v, you want 10s, so two bundles of four 5s packs in parallel will make 10s, 20 ah. So buy at least 8, 5s 5 ah packs. That many in parallel, you should be able to use the cheaper 20c rate packs. Even that is going to run close to $400 shipped. It's just not that cheap to get 700-800 watthours.

Search threads by Dnmun, for the straight dope on how to assemble them into a bms equipped pack, using the besttech power bms. He may be able to sell you the bms, he bought a few.

The other alternative would be a limn pack of some kind, like from EM3ev, in Canada Grin cyclery, or in the USA electric rider. Those will not be cheap. But you can't run a hot controller on 20 ah of pingbattery lifepo4. If you ran a 30 amps, you might get away with cheap lifepo4.

Till you get your shit together, you can run 36v 10 ah of RC lico. That's much cheaper to get rolling for shorter runs.

Thank you for the help. I am trying to build a mock up of the pack you suggested to see how it fits in the battery box. I am also researching BMS, Ping and American suppliers for ready made packs as well.

I now have had the board for a few days of use. I am running high quality 12v 12ah x3 sla batteries. The range seams to be between 5-8 miles depending on terrain and abuse with myself being the operator at 230 pounds. In my current area near NYC there are lots of hills so its easy to drain the pack fast. I need a reliable 10 mile + range If I am to operate this board as a transportation alternative. I know believe that 15ah may not be enough. I know they sell a 20ah pack but getting one is super hard and they are charging 1000$ for it. Building a pack is becoming more and more of a must with this product.

Battery Box Changes:

-The box is bigger then expected at 13 inches long, 7.1 inches wide and 4.1 inches deep
