Well there is no chance I can help being totally new at this myself..but it may be of use to post this info as well
How many wires in the lead coming out of the hub.
How many thick high current wires..how many thin 'signal' wires.
Wire colours?

This may help others who know about these things as to what is needed controller wise to get it running

Yep. You're going to have to cut off the connector and post a pic of the wires colors for anyone to help. Sometimes the colors to the halls match just fine and sometimes they don't ! But, this is the right forum to post your questions? 8)

ok thnx so much for the reply the three thicker wires are yellow, blue, and green..the 5 smaller wires are red, green, blue, yellow, and black. there are a total of 8 wires.

Ok. Those colors match the ones I have on my infineon controllers. That's good. This looks like a wilderness energy hub?? yopappamon is selling some for $40 each a reasonable price for a good starter controller that is good up to 48v. With this controller (or one quite like it?) I have hooked up 3 different hub motors with no problem by just hooking up the 5 hall sensor wires with no problem. The 3 phase wires ( bigger ones) will take some experimenting with or hopefully someone else can jump in that knows the combination already. Ebikes.ca also sells them so does e-bikekit.com, also throttles.
Hope this helps. Search the for sale section of this thread you might find a throttle for sale. I prefer thumb throttle, but others like full twist or half-twist. Heck if you can't find one I'll sell you one of mine if you need.
Hope this helps. 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

I have never had a bike yet, but have been working on building one for quite some time.

From what I have been told those are standard colours, and you should be able to connect up to a standard controller as the above post.

The motor may not turn in the correct direction, so it may not be a matter of just connecting up same colour with same colour. From what I am told, you can connect it up any way, and won't do damage by connecting it up wrong..Well...when I say connect any way I mean ... connect big wires to big wires and small to small. Of the small wires the Black goes to black and red to red. But otherwise the colours of each type of wire (thick and thin) may not match.

Connect it up and gently open throttle and see what happens. It if turns in correct direction and smoothly, all good. If not you then need to swap colours around.

This is where you ned to be methodical and take notes...and where what I can tell you dries up. I know you will only swap one at at time, before each try of throttle, and ideally swap one pair of thick phase wires. Then try all combinations of swaps with the 3 thin wires. If that does not yield correct results...then another swap of thick pair ...and do the thin ones all in combination again.

There is a thread on this..but can't find it myself now, that gives a better explanation...or one of the real experts will pop up soon, and help up out and correct any thing I have said wrong

ok awsome thanks for your help but i need a controller my wheel it came with the twist grip throttle and brake levers and batt meter, i need help to find the right controller and how to hook up? it also came with these two circle pieces dont know what they are either so ill post the pick, i need a controller asap if any one has a spare for sale??

The other attached pictures is a bit that goes on the crank .........left hand side ...........it is a pedal assist sensor and will plug ( I think ) in to the controller. In UK it is a legal requirement. It means the motor only works when you pedal...can't use throttle. The plastic bit goes on the actual crank, and the metal bit with wire goes on the frame...sending rotation info to the controller.

he other bit looks like a display of some sort...speed...battery voltage? current? something like that..

You're right, it's a pedelec sensor, but it's not a UK legal requirement (yet). It is a legal requirement in most of Europe, but the UK still allows the use of hand throttle control only on ebikes.

Most controllers will accept the pedelec sensor input, if you want to use it, but there are at least two different types of sensor, with different outputs. The sensor you have looks very much like the type that works OK with the pretty common XieChang controllers, like those that Keywin Ge and Ed Lyen sell.

Ah..so I learn something new...maybe that law is just Jersey then..or if not Law then Construction regulations from our version of the UK DVLA

Yes. You can hook it up the way we said (smalller wires color to color) first and then larger wires color to color first. But, be sure you do it with no load to the motor. This means just let the motor spin freely without any weight on the tire or wheel. If you are lucky the color will just match up if not it might make a buzzing sound or it might run in reverse. If it runs in reverse you have to only switch two wires to get it to run the other way. Use bullet connectors and try every possible combination on the three wires Y-Y, B-B, G-G and/or Y-B, B-G, etc etc. It takes a little time, but it's not as hard as it sounds. Once you get the right combination you will feel a small sense of accomplishment (or at least I did). 8) 8)

Also, you didn't say where you are from? If you are from the USA the go ahead and get the controller here. The infineon controller is used by a lot of people on this forum for hub motors so go for it.
