Hi, i recently got a PWM from amazon for an electric bicycle. (i want to only use a pwm for controlling the bike instead of like an all in one controller set-up) I also got a thumb throttle, decided to cut off the original potentiometer and splice the 3 wire thumb throttle to the pwm. tried all the different combinations i could for wiring but all it did was run the motor at full speed? is there a different thumb throttle i should get or is this not compatible / is there a way to make this work with any electric bike throttles?

The speed control on the PWM unit is a potentiometer. The output of a hall effect throttle like the thumb throttle is not in the same range.

It would be good to measure the voltage across the two outside terminals on the potentiometer to see what the supply is. Also good to measure the pot resistance (disconnected).

There are some twist grip style throttles that have potentiometers, like Magura, but they're probably more expensive than your PWM unit.

Thanks d8veh i searched up magura and found out its a 5k pot so i found out that i could use this one most likely?
