I am upgrading my Lashout and I need to know how to mount the controller, all the photos I see have it mounted on the rear rack support but they are never detailed enough for me to see how they mounted them. Here is my photo

and here is a photo of a modified one with the controller somehow magically mounted on

I could really use the help, thanks.

I think this is going to be a home depot kind of affair :)

Baling wire. Seriously. On my race bike, I took some aluminum sheet about the thickness of licence plate and bolted it to a rack. Then controllers can sheet metal screw to the aluminum mount.

I wish I could see how other people did there, for my next problem is there an adapter wire for this?

I am holding the battery leads from the controller in my overexposed hand, as you can see the battery has a different kind of hook up.

I looked for that kind of adapter for a long time and couldn't find one. Even car parts stores didn't have them... if they did, the connectors were meant for 18ga. wire.

So i use these instead. They are cheap, easy to solder, and will accept up to 10ga. wire which is pretty good. It is also the stock connector for many HK lipos if you go that route.

it's called a "2 way trailer connector"

if you can't find a "2 way trailer connector" at your local auto or hardware store and don't want to cut the plug from the battery then here are 2 links for the plug/connector. then just cut it and crimp/solder on the connectors for the controller.

The important thing is to leave it out in the air flow, for cooling. I'm with Ypedal, zip ties (you can get black) are cheap, strong, and disposable, so your controller is then easy to mount differently, should the need arise.

Another slightly less easy to cut-and-steal option than zipties is radiator hose clamps, which you can get in large enough sizes at hardware stores to fit all the way around the controller and bike frame. I'd do two of them in an X, each one diagonally across the top of the controller then under the chainstays, and just tighten each one down a few turns alternately until it's secure.

Also the hose clamps aren't going to sun-rot. ;)
