I'm not sure about the SW900, but it's worth looking through the settings to see if it has a voltage setting because some LCDs have to be set manually. Have a look at the P03 setting. IIRC, that's the manual battery voltage setting, which is probably on 48v and should be 36v.
Some displays are automatic dual voltage. I don't know how they figure out which battery voltage you have when a fully charged 36v one is 42v and a fully discharged 48v one is 39v. If you first install your battery when it's somewhere between 39v and 42v, it must have to guess which it is and sometimes get it wrong.
The solution is to completely disconnect your LCD from the controller and disconnect your controller from the battery. Then, you need to discharge the battery to below 39v. When you reconnect, it should get it all right and remember what you have.
