I've just finally completed my build. The bike is a lightly used Jamis Commuter that I wasn't using because of my old sore knees. The components were mostly sourced from BMS Battery and consist of a 36v 10ah bottle battery with a 350w Q100 328rpm front hub motor running 700c wheels. The bike with all the electrics weighs 41 lbs. I initially had some problems getting the bike to run smoothly. It would accelerate to 12mph and then the motor would start cycling on and off almost like a speed limiter was at work. Based on the advice I received here I decided the most likely culprit was the KU65 controller provided with the kit by BMS Battery. I purchased a 2nd cheapo controller from Greentime, installed it (after sorting thru the wiring differences) and all my problems went away. The bike accelerates smoothly and quietly to about 22mph unassisted on level ground and is a joy to ride. The Jamis has an 8 spd internal geared rear hub and it's impossible to assist the motor at full speed in 8th gear (you just can't pedal fast enough). I was going for stealth but the bottle battery is just too big to be mistaken for an actual water bottle. Because of the spindly Jamis forks I made some torque arms from 3/16" mild steel for peace of mind. This is my first ebike and (after owning many noisy motorcycles) I'm really enjoying the peace and quiet as I whir around the neighborhood. I don't what my range is going to be with this battery but I'm hoping for 10 miles.
