Hi extremegreenmachine - No This is just for my commuter to work daily, I was going remove my 9C motor and put on my girlfriend's new ebike. I still want the agni motor with 500A controller for the race.

I am surprised to see hall sensor leads coming out of your motor. Was that a special order or custom modification. I will be using a lyen 12 fet sensorless controller and a 12-14s pack. I hope to break 30 mph in real world driving situations. I will probably limit the amperage just to keep out of trouble.

Yes, it is special order addition the hall sensor and I bought the HS35 from Methods in new sale thread.


No, You will love Lyen sensorless controller combine with the HS35 sensorless and You can ask Spacey about this. He was fed up with the 9C sensorless with the Lyen sensorless controller due lot judders and He decided take it risk order a HS35 sensorless motor. He discovered Lyen sensorless controller was champion combine with the HS35 sensorless. It runs super smooth and lot power. I think Spacey runs 100v at 45A on the Lyen sensorless controller. Maybe I am wrong.

Again, Just the 9C sensorless motor is not great with the Lyen sensorless controller except it really champion with the HS35 sensorless motor.

You can PM Spacey about this if you want.

I will probably limit the amperage just to keep out of trouble.

as you can see mine was received in the UK the day after it was outbound scanned in belgium.

I run a Lyen 45amp controller at 66V 16cell 4P 5.8ah Turnigy Lipo packs....17.8Ah total.

It does run very smooth and can hit 42mph on the flat, but it does sometime lose the timings when pushed hard so I have backed off the speed a tiny bit. Too fast anyway for commuting.... it is a very good combination and you only have to worry about 3 wires, mine are 12AWG RC Cable but after reading the bun fight that was the cable thread I will be upgrading to 10AWG.

Hey Spacey, Glad to hear all seems to be working good now for you How are the dead starts on that Lyen 45amp controller, does it suffer from the normal sensorless judder (my 25amp controller wont even start rolling unless i push off) or is it smooth from a standing start. Have you tried an uphill start at all yet?

I was all but convinced to get a custom made controller from E-crazyman but if lyens controllers are perfect for this motor then i may go with one of them instead.

Thanks for the reply chroot, I have no doubt that Lyen's constomer service is excellent, there is proof of that all over the forums and on his youtube videos. I have however read of the issues with his sensorless controllers on the 9c so was just wanting to hear from someone that has tested his sensorless controller with the same motor as mine (hs3540) as i know the quality of his controllers are excellent im just wary of the issues surrounding sensorless. If spacey gives it a good review then thats enough for me to go with Lyen.

do you mind checking the spoke holes? are they drilled for 12ga or 13ga? did you get it spoked? if not, are you going to use 12ga spokes?

I had the motor made up into a 24" diameter wheel by Crystalyte Europe.
I have just measured a spoke and it is 2.34mm diameter. Hope this helps.

Most of early batch of Crystalyte, especially sensorless motor were all 13g spoke holes. As late, the batch change to 12g spokes holes.

I found Lyens sensorless controller to not be able to pull away from standing starts but then it's not a problem really at all. A small motion forward will get you going within a couple of inches.

42 to 45mph is possible on 66v, some sync problems at times but usually easing off the throttle and then reapplying the throttle sorts it out. Happy enough to continue using it and love the programmability of the controller. I think that what little sync issues there are might be caused by crosstalk in the phase wires so will move them further apart.

For the money it's a no brainer.
