Amen to that brother. I was thinking screw the group ride and go do pikes peak some other time, but found out it's a national park. No fun allowed in national parks of course. Only open to bikes one day a year. Look into the group ride, I'm not sure if ebikes that are really motorcycles with pedals are welcome. Bear in mind, you'll be riding an illegal vehicle in front of a shitload of national park chotas. Might be fine though, in 52v configuration. I'm just saying, you hit 40mph up that road, those park cops will notice.
But once you are actually in Colorado, plenty of badass roads to climb. Near aspen independence pass tops out at 12 thou, but if that's not thin enough air, near Denver there is a road to 14 thou. Mt Evans, the map says paved. That high, I doubt it's open to the top in june.
The one I dream of riding is off road, serious jeep road, from Lake valley to Ouray. I drove it to 10,000 feet once, and got stopped by the snow. Then I went and climbed lake peak and skied it.
