New Juiced Rider ODK 500 Owner - Others out there?

Hi all.

I'm a new owner of a Juiced Rider ODK.

I put a Yepp seat on the back and love using the bike to take my kid to day care and commute in to work.

The power really helps get me back up some pretty big SF hills on my way home.

I'd love to start this thread to chat with other owners about how you use your bike and upgrades or tweaks you might have done.

I just got my Cycle Analyst in the mail from grin, and can't wait to hook it up to start getting more details on power usage, etc.

I'm thinking about replacing the grips with some ergons. (like what you see on edgerunners)

I'm also thinking of potentially upgrading to a Nuvinici 360 IGH. (I find the three gears a little jarring and limited)

Any ODK stories/sharing would be much appreciated.

Not an owner, but I have been favorably impressed with the design. Longtail for the win when it comes to commuting with the groceries.
 
Like Dogman, I'm not an owner, but I did see one parked on the streets in my town last week and I saw the same bike with another ODK riding together yesterday so I know there's at least two here in Ashland.

VERY nice and functional design. I checked the price on the website when I got home after seeing the one parked and found the price a bit steep, but it is a very nice design.
 
Sometimes I wish I had purchased a Juicedrider when I was looking at my first Ebike 2 years ago. The bike has gone through some changes in design since then, for the better.
 
This looks to me like a great cargo bike design, and considering 48V 22AH Panasonic lithium battery mounted nicely under the sturdy rear cargo rack, 500W geared motor and hydraulic disc brakes, the price isn't too crazy at all. The reviews all seem quite positive as well. Good job!

I've seen mentioned that the bike was available without electric conversion, but I don't see that on the current website. Apparently they dropped that model.

I'm a bit late to the party here...completely new to ebikes.

Started looking into cargo bikes since my kid has outgrown her babyseat...then electric assists because I live on a short, but very steep hill that has really taken the fun out of bike rides. Went for my first ebike ride about 3 weeks ago on a yuba mundo and I've seen the (electric) light. These bikes are clearly revolutionary.

Just bought a used ODK500v3 from craigslist at a very good price a few days ago and I'm completely thrilled with it. Also came with a Yepp baby seat, which is actually just big enough for my 6 year old. I'll probably need the Yepp Junior seat soon....was happy to discover that such a seat even exists.

The bike is the 48v 22AH version...I guess they stopped producing the 22AH battery for some reason, but I've ridden for hours at a time and haven't been able to get below half charged.

I'd like to get the Cycle Analyst, but I'm not sure if the v2 or v3 is right for this bike. It has an extra, unconnected, white 4pin dongle cable coming out of the top of the controller...I'm not sure what that is for....does anyone know? Not sure if CA can use this connection.

Another question I have is about securing the battery...it seems to be held on with only just 4 bolts...it looks like under 5 minutes to remove. I'm wondering how others in urban areas keep their batteries from walking off...isn't this an issue? Is there a good lock for just that part of the frame?

The CA plug is a 5 pin plug, so if you do add a CA, the easy way would be to get the stand alone one.

This will be only a battery monitor, not able to use the limiting features. There are other options, but that's the easiest CA option for you.

Re the theft. People always ask about battery theft. But in fact what happens is they steal the whole bike. So worry more about that. My best strategy is to try to avoid theft situations. In front of the grocery in the AM, much safer than in front of the pub in the PM.

The typical thief is sleeping it off in the early morning. But, working poor always need a second job, drug dealing, shoplifting, bike stealing. So pay attention to when the night shift ends.
