Dy-power is the ebay handle.

This is the best price I've seen on large format cells that look similar to Thundersky. Maybe they are from the same factory? Unlike the BMI or A123 cells these have only moderate looking specs, but for a lower speed car conversion, the price of a lifepo4 pack just went down by about $10,000. I'd say that's interesting. I can't afford a middleman in the purchase of that much lifepo4 that's for sure! A decent pack for a motorcycle conversion just got into my price range for next year.

If anybody bites, let us know how the customer service goes. That seems to be the biggest issue with buying in china. I hope by the time I have the cash Ping is selling this kind of cells.

That's funny, I was looking at their batts this morning.

The specifications seem to indicate they are the real deal, but I suppose they need to be tested.

 Nice fake pic from their facility. And someone who also sells fashion braceletts
Not the one I would trust too much, when it comes to tech-talk or service issues.
And there's another fake Ping-battery seller.

It will be interesting to see if this new seller keeps his identity for long. Not the pseudo ping, we know he won't. What exites me about this one, is it may lead to others. In a year or so, we may be able to just buy the cells of our choice at near wholesale prices straight from the factory on ebay instead of all this group buy rigamarole. Based on Ping pack prices, I figured sooner or later we could do better than $25000 for enough lifepo4 to make a small car go 60 mph. With this seller, if they check out, you could make a geo metro or something go 45 mph for around 5 or 6 thou. That gets me interested. When I looked at car conversions, I quickly came to the conclusion that I would need a bit more range than most of the cars running golf cart wet cells can do. But when I realized two used Priuses could be bought for what a lifepo4 conversion would cost, I started looking at the ebikes and motorcycles.

Those are the exact batteries "HI POWER" I'm using in my Motorcycle I'm using the 20AH size 3 pack of 16 cells in series so 3 48 volt 20AH packs I charge them independently and put them in parallel through relays to run. I'm very happy with the batteries and have about 2000 miles on them. I pull 135 amps peak and 75 amps average from the three packs in parallel.

Yeah, they may not have the c rate of A123's but if you can afford to pack in enough cells, they shoud be fine. When I priced thunderskies for a car last winter, I was going no way, but this looks to me like a reasonable deal. If the seller isn't a hassle that takes three months to deliver. None for me now, though, I'm ebiking to pay down the ol charge cards this year. I'm dreaming of a small bike with about 75 pounds of batteries on it.

Seems so.

The Dy-power ad mentions "Hipower" brand.

Here I believe:

Ya can take the factory tour here:

Lots more product info on their site versus ebay

Yeah, I like what I see on the graphs. Nice cycle life at 2c, which is more likely how you will actually use them. I just think it's cool that they are offered on ebay, rather than having to deal with making a bid on a bunch of cells. You could try em on a bike or small motorcycle before commiting to a car sise purchase.

Anybody got a price on these cells or complete packs?

Just see em on ebay. Big loose cells are $189 for 100 ah and $335 fro 200 ah. 20ah 48v pack with bms & charger is $722.
Not too bad I think for no duct tape. Aren't those prices half or less than thuderskies last spring?

With the issue of shill-bidding that seems rampant among Chinese sellers, I'd only trust feedback that has from high-feedback clients who've purchased batteries. I'm even further suspicious when a great proportion of the buyers have asian-handles(As opposed to Ping's feedback, where a much lower percentage have asian-type of handles.) and those very same handles have low feedback. Of course, it could be that the lower prices, relative to Ping's, attract local buyers due to the income differences but I doubt the ratio would be that much and I doubt that an asian buyer genuinely purchased three separate high-capacity batteries whose feedback entirely consists of Dy-Power.

Given that criteria, I only see one feedback that qualifies as 'genuine' and it's for a duct-tape 48V 20Ah pack.

He may prove later to be a genuine seller, and he does have that 'vibe' of honesty given his seeming technical understanding, but I'd say buyer beware for now. It seems like there's a high likelihood he's using shill-bidders and I myself can't really trust those kinds of sellers.

There's two "qualified" feedback according to my criteria above for this seller, although they're both for the "duct tape" form. I think this seller has moved to the "needs a few guinea pigs" category. :)

There's no qualified feedback for the plastic white batteries though, so there'd seem to be a higher risk there.

While they are good looking cells, once you look at the feedback you see a seller with much the same product in other sales as another seller, fennyliu of the same battery. Hmmm it's deja wu all over again. The dy power ad had so much product avaliable, I thought it was a company rep selling. I guess not, unless the battery factory also makes fashion bracelets. Oh well, surely good batteries will make their way into the hands of real sellers soon. Now I'd like to change the thread title.

I do have a rather ignorant question.

Why do these battery packs weigh so much more than a Ping battery.

Dy-Power 48v/20ah weighs about 27.2lbs

Ping 48v/20ah weighs about 22lbs.

Are some cells just lighter?

Does Dy-power include the weight of the charger in his specs?

It's a pretty big differance in weight, that's why I can't help but wonder.

Duct tape is pretty light compared to the plastic case and the screw terminals. And then you have to build a strong box for it, often a heavy ammo can. But that feedback looks Lausy to me. One thing for sure, that guy ( East, Jimmy etc) has shipped some crap bms's. I'd want to know for sure I wasn't buying from him. We can be sure that more good sellers will arrive in the market soon. How to sort em out is the problem. Drop shippers are at the mercy of their suppliers, who may or may not send the product right away. Then if the sent product is defective, they are clueless what to do about it. It sucks on both ends of the deal. I can't wait till you see this stuff stocked at wallmart.

So far only Ping has tech expertise and cells we are pretty dang sure passed quality controll. I'm hopefull for these hi-power cells, but the seller , who knows? I expect soon enough even pings cells will come in a case like these.
