Hey ya'll,

I just installed a new (cheap) motor controller on my e-trike and am wondering if it can support headlight/tailight/horn/turn signal functions as the oem controller did. The wiring layout on the new controller don't explicitly indicate that there is a lighting output BUT after hooking up throttle, reverse, three-speed plug, brake cut-off, and switch plug, there are still some unused wires such as alarm power which I'm thinking could power lights? Or maybe it would be smarter to circumvent the controller to power my lights by hooking up directly to the battery, as I read in another thread. Any tips on the best way to get my lights back? Controller info below:

Most lighting setups I've come across are meant for 12V, meaning the ~48V from the battery could kill the lights.

I would recommend buying a 48V-12V buck converter like this one: https://a.co/d/gh62Fen for dedicated 12V power and a dirt-bike lighting kit for your switches and wiring and such. I used this one from Tusk on an E-Moped before: https://a.co/d/6fLBKn3

also check out ebay etc for 2nd use authentic m/cycle handlebar switchsets fitted with wiring suitable for high load lamps and are weatherproof.. Many sold for 'ebike use' are wired with whisker thick wires and have no protection for damp/wet operation suitable for only fair weather use with low voltage low power lamps. I know because i bought the wrong uns to begin with..
