I know most places don't require a license or insurance for e-bikes, but I am just currently staying in NY State, the Over-legislation capital of the US. The NYDMV site is unclear to me, and I'm wondering if anyone in NY has experience with the law while on their e-bikes in NY. tHAnk you ahead of time, Bd-100

I was going to sell about 50 small bikes to a delivery company in NY but couldn't as it is illegal to brive electriv bikes in NY.
TPTB just have the place locked down to gas vehicles or full scale electric motorcycles.

Ebikes are illegal in NY That being said you asked "if anyone in NY has experience with the law while on their e-bikes in NY."

I live on Long Island and if by the law you mean the police then I can say after years of riding an ebike in a generally responsible manner the police have never bothered me and I ride past a police station on my way home from work. These days I ride a road legal electric motorcycle but still from time to time ride my ebike. If it mostly looks like a bicycle and you don't go stupid fast you should be fine but ride at your own risk.

There is a store in New York City called NYCwheels and they sell ebikes without any problem though it is as I said technically illegal, maybe you should ask them there take on the enforcement of the ebike laws.

Those that are selling will tell you that you are not only legal, you can sleep with the sheriff's daughter.just like anything else, the more of these creatures that go by the cop car,the more they will sniff. If they don't bother you it doesn't mean its legal. this is a big issue that will come to a head sooner than later.I'm sure my gradmother will get hassled less than the guy who looks like the outlaw, whether it be hd,moped, scooter orwalking.Years ago I just took my horse to town so I wasn't driving anything He knew the way home, got a dui for riding my horse on my own property.either start getting laws nailed down or flinch every time you see cop.I see segway sticking thier nose and money to ensure the laws are favorable for them, its called lobbying, but nothing about no Emachines.just covering their own ass.So creep under the radar or get organized and tell them the laws we need.
