Newb ESC problems

Hi everyone,
I bought this e-board http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=65904 a couple of months ago and was really enjoying it, 10s battery and dual 63's, this thing is mad! However, I was riding at ~10mph then the transmitter stopped responding (wouldn't brake or accelerate) and now I cannot get the board to work. When I switch it on normally the motors would beep, now they no longer do this and I get no response when using the transmitter. I replaced the BEC with a 7805 powered from an onboard 12v supply but this hasn't solved anything.

Does anyone have any clues as to why it is not working? I suspect it may be a blown ESC but am not very familiar with RC electronics, does anyone have any clues as to how I can determine what has failed?

Chances are it's a loose connection between the receiver and the ESC.

If it doesn't beep that means the board isn't powering the motors which could mean the ESC might not be responding. If not it could be the receiver. I'd check to see if the receiver is being powered on.

I have tested the receiver with a 5v supply and the transmitter on and the signal LED does not light up.
I should mention that when the board is switched on the wheels are difficult to turn, as though the ESC is braking the wheels. Is this an indication that the ESC is working? I'd prefer the receiver to be broken than ESC, much cheaper to replace!

Could be the receiver. That's the cheapest part to try and replace. I'd probably start there.
