Happened to scroll through bafangs news section today
http://www.szbaf.com/en/news/detail...e-system-technical-seminar-to-begin-soon.html
and saw this:

Time: August 11 – 12, 2016

The second annual Electrically Power Assisted Cycles (EPAC) Drive System Technology Exchange Meeting will be hosted by Suzhou Bafang Electric Motor Science-Technology Co., Ltd. The main theme will be on new product introductions;
New middle motor, torque sensors product structure introductions
and operational instructions; the Suzhou Bafang service network and other topics. Operational information and riding experiences will also be available.

What do ya think? Is it the mythical aftermarket BBSxx with torque sensor that will be released maybe? :D
Or maybe i have missed something..

Also, of course, from em3ev news section:
14 June 2016
We will be introduccing some cool new stuff on the Bafang front very soon. All will be revealed very soon.

At interbike last year, they said they were working on a torque-sensing drive. No word on when they will introduce it.

I suspect they have been working on a variety of new products.

Sorry for the noob question, but does the torque sensor mean that the motor can now be set up with a peddle assist option?

They currently have pedal-assist, but it uses a less-expensive "speed sensor". A series of magnets pass by a sensor to tell when the pedals are moving. A torque-sensor has a smoother transition of the power being applied.
