Snip....
According to the police log, the LAPD responded to 13 alarm calls at the building in the year prior to the heist, and all of them were determined to be false alarms. Notably, one occurred just before 11:30 p.m. on March 30, the night before the heist. A patrol car arrived at the warehouse minutes later and deemed it a false alarm.

Another alarm rang at the building on at 4:36 a.m. on Easter, according to the log. Hours later, the log shows, a police car was dispatched to the property, a supervisor was notified and a report was written. The log does not indicate what the police found. However, a resident at the neighboring Tahitian Mobile Home Park previously told The Times that FBI agents visited her the day after the burglary and asked if she “saw or heard anything suspicious around 4 a.m.” on Easter. (The woman said she was asleep at the time and did not.)

At 7.22 a.m., another alarm rang at GardaWorld’s warehouse and a police car responded about 45 minutes later; the LAPD log shows it was considered a “valid alarm.” Finally, an alarm rang at 3:51 p.m. and a police car arrived around 4 p.m. in response. This was deemed a false alarm, according to the log, the details of which were first reported by TMZ.

According to Aria Kozak, chief executive of L.A.-based security services company Elite Interactive Solutions, the false alarms triggered before the heist could have been the result of criminals testing the security apparatus at the building.

“In that particular case, the false alarms could just be a little window into the criminal activity,” he said. “They are very capable and smart and they will look for the soft or weak spot.”...snip

May 13 (UPI) -- A California man ordered by his city to conceal the boat parked in his driveway with a fence hired his artist neighbor to paint a photo-realistic image of the vessel in an act of rebellious compliance.

Etienne Constable said the boat he uses for fishing was regularly parked in his Seaside driveway for about four years before he received a letter from the city informing him of a municipal code requiring boats and trailers to be "screened on the side and front by a six-foot-high fence."

Constable said his initial reaction to the letter was anger, but he then spoke to his neighbor, mural artist Hanif Panni, and arrived at a creative solution.

Constable had a fence installed to block his driveway, and Panni, who creates art under the name Hanif Wondir, painted a photo-realistic image of the boat and the rest of the driveway on the road-facing side of the fence.

"We kind of hit the sweet spot between following the rules and making an elegant statement to the contrary," Constable told The Washington Post.

Panni, who described the project as an attempt to create "an illusion," posted photos of the finished work to social media, where they quickly went viral.

"I'm all in favor of generating a discussion and making people smile," Constable told KSBW-TV. "The reaction is extremely more than we ever expected and we're both just tickled about it."

The project earned fans including Nick Borges, Seaside's acting city manager, who called Constable to compliment him on the creative solution. Borges said he had seen the photos on social media before he realized they were from a local home.

"I thought, 'Wow, that's pretty creative.' I laughed at it, and then I started getting calls from local media," Borges said.

He said the letter received by Constable was the result of actions taken last year. Borges said the city had received numerous complaints about lax code enforcement, so someone was hired to investigate and contact violators.

Borges said Constable's case was closed out when the fence was installed and no further actions will be taken.

"The only action I'm going to take is a high five, and that's it," Borges said.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Family members from three different states were infected with brain worms after consuming bear meat kebobs, a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention explains.

In total, nine family members from three states (Arizona, Minnesota, or South Dakota) — attended a 2022 family gathering in South Dakota, the May 23 report says.

One of the family members had harvested the bear in northern Saskatchewan. The meat was stored in a freezer for more than a month before being prepared and used for kebobs. According to the report, the family member had been instructed by a hunting outfitter to freeze the meat in order to kill parasites.

The CDC report notes, however, that the larvae and worms later detected in the meat and family members are freeze-resistant.

RFK Jr. had a brain worm. How do you get one and what are the symptoms?

At the family gathering, the meat was grilled alongside vegetables but was accidentally served undercooked. After a few attendees initially ate the meat, it was recooked and served again.

Three of the affected family members said they had only consumed vegetables at the meal, but health officials say the meat may have already cross-contaminated the other food that was served.

A few weeks later in July 2022, one of the family members was hospitalized with a fever, severe muscle soreness and swelling around the eyes, the CDC explains. Physicians diagnosed him with trichinellosis.

Trichinellosis is a roundworm infection usually caused by eating raw or uncooked meat contaminated with the parasite trichinella. Its larvae can come from meat-eating animals like bears, as well as wild boars and walruses, according to the CDC.

Seven additional family members, including a 12-year-old girl, were ultimately diagnosed with the worms. Three of the seven were hospitalized and treated with a medication called albendazole, which kills the worms, the CDC says. Only six were symptomatic and they all recovered, according to health officials.

Leftover bear meat was tested, and Trichinellosis larvae were detected.

Since 2016, I've been bewildered by the apparent aliens all around me whose thought processes don't seem to be human at all.
IOW - ET alien's intelligence is far superior since 2016 ... in comparison to the human AI that now envelopes you ;)

Yeah, we know about the illegitimately installed crypto-fascist majority on the Supreme Court. Their masks are off.

Here's hoping that come January, we'll have been lucky and we'll get four new justices who aren't corrupt criminals. Or maybe the president at that time will give the problem justices a taste of her immunity from prosecution while saving the country from them. Heck, I think all six on the side of lawlessness and hypocrisy should undergo enhanced integration techniques at Guantanamo before being extraordinarily rendered to someplace they won't return from.

I'm seeing Count Trumpula getting elected and going bat s#!% crazy and doing a lot of damage like all vampires. With mummies they are slow enough to see what they are doing.

Soft gold enables connections between nerves and electronics

Date: August 6, 2024
Source: Linköping University

Summary: Gold does not readily lend itself to being turned into long, thin threads. But researchers have now managed to create gold nanowires and develop soft electrodes that can be connected to the nervous system. The electrodes are soft as nerves, stretchable and electrically conductive, and are projected to last for a long time in the body.
The Borgs comith!

Rite Aid executives thought they were going to be clever and higher less and less employees so they can save costs. Now, I find one Rite Aid employee in my local store most of the time. Mostly at the register. There are three people running the pharmacy but they don't help with anything else except point to where to the shelf to find an over the counter medicine. It gives people an easy way to shop lift. Nobody is watching.

Swiss police detain several people in connection with suspected death in a ‘suicide capsule’

GENEVA (AP) — Police in northern Switzerland said Tuesday that several people have been detained and a criminal case opened in connection with the suspected death of a person in a “suicide capsule.”
The “Sarco” capsule, which has never been used before, is presumably designed to allow a person sitting in a reclining seat inside to push a button that injects nitrogen gas into the sealed chamber. The person is then supposed to fall asleep and die by suffocation in a few minutes.
Exit International, an assisted suicide group based in the Netherlands, said it is behind the 3D-printed device that cost over $1 million to develop.
Swiss law allows assisted suicide so long as the person takes his or her life with no “external assistance” and those who help the person die do not do so for “any self-serving motive,” according to a government website.

___ EDITOR’S NOTE — This story includes discussion of suicide. If you or someone you know needs help, the national suicide and crisis lifeline in the U.S. is available by calling or texting 988. There is also an online chat at 988lifeline.org. The Swiss government refers queries about suicide prevention to a group called “Dargebotene Hand,” or The Offered Hand.

Deleted some overly political ragebait, for those wondering about the discontinuity.
