When your home built battery is so ugly it scares the sheriff 😁

I clicked on the article to read, because I am also guilty of ugly homemade batteries and I wanted some solidarity. But holy crap, those packs in Arizona absolutely look like poorly made bombs!

A Los Angeles man said he recently missed his flight home after getting trapped on his way to the airport in a Waymo that wouldn’t stop making circles in a parking lot.
L.A. tech entrepreneur Mike Johns posted a video three weeks ago on LinkedIn of his call to a customer service representative for Waymo to report that the car kept turning in circles and that he was nervous about missing his flight.
“I got a flight to catch. Why is this thing going in a circle? I’m getting dizzy,” Johns said. “It’s circling around a parking lot. I got my seat belt on. I can’t get out of the car. Has this been hacked? What’s going on? I feel like I’m in the movies. Is somebody playing a joke on me?”

The customer service representative told Johns to open his Waymo app and that she would try to pull the car over but seemed to struggle with getting the vehicle to stop.
Johns was returning home from Scottsdale, Ariz., according to a CBS report, which also noted that Johns “nearly” missed his flight.
On his social media post, Johns, who also works on AI initiatives, according to his LinkedIn profile, said Waymo had not followed up with him after the experience.

“You’d think by now Waymo would email, text or call for a follow-up,” he wrote.
A Waymo spokesperson wrote in an email to The Times on Sunday that the incident occurred in mid-December and that the rider was delayed by roughly five minutes, then driven to his destination.
At the time of the incident, however, Johns wrote on LinkedIn, “Mind you I was on my way to the airport and now missed my flight.”
The spokesperson said the software glitch had since been resolved and that Johns was not charged for the ride. They added that the company had since tried to follow up with him via voicemail.

I must have missed this Jaccuweather prediction a year ago.
This section really jumped out at me from the article's predictions from March 2024:

"All of that extra vegetation that's now grown out can dry out quickly, and especially at times when we're dealing with any kind of gusty wind. There's still going to be a risk for some wildfires..."

Very accurately described exactly what happened in the recent Los Angeles fires!

Yea, but will this plasma cannon work in the fog?

New, or used?
You should know by now that it's all used, technically (it was harvested from things that grew from dirt, correct?) You're much too smart to be unable to see the distinctions our human minds make, dear fellow. Perhaps I simply have too much time on my hands and should hurry up and be a silent spectator of the world, instead of polluting your attention span?

Patience, friend; I'll die eventually and be very quiet indeed, have no fear.

Los Angeles police are looking for a large group of bike-riding teenagers who beat up a man in broad daylight after he got out of his car to confront them.

The attack unfolded at the intersection of San Vicente Boulevard and Carrillo Drive in the Carthay neighborhood east of Beverly Hills on Saturday, the Los Angeles Police Department announced in a news release.

The group of 20 to 30 bike riders, believed to be between 16 and 18 years old, kicked and punched the man around 5 p.m., according to witnesses who viewed the attack. The attack was the culmination of a confrontation that began earlier when witnesses say the teens hit the man’s vehicle, police said.

A fight broke out and the driver, outnumbered by the group, fell to the ground where he was punched and kicked, video of the attack showed. The group eventually rode away south on Carrillo Drive after witnesses approached them to try and stop the fight, according to police.

The man was treated by paramedics for minor injuries. He declined to be taken to a hospital, according to police.

This is at least the third time a group of bike-riding teens has had a violent altercation with a driver in Los Angeles in recent months.

In January, a group of teens vandalized a Mercedes-Benz at Wilshire Boulevard and La Brea Avenue after a driver weaved dangerously close to the group while they were riding on Olympic Boulevard.

In August, a driver in downtown L.A. was attacked during a similar encounter. The driver in that video was attacked while he was at a red light after he tried to drive around the group that was riding in the street.

Los Angeles Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky, who represents the district, said she was deeply disturbed by this weekend’s attack.

“My heart goes out to the young man who was assaulted and his family, and I’m relieved to hear that he is recovering,” she said in a statement. “LAPD is actively investigating this incident, and while law enforcement has not indicated they think this was a hate crime, any act of violence like this is unacceptable.”

She asked for anyone with information about the attack to contact police.

“I know that this incident has shaken many in our community, and I want to assure you that we take these concerns very seriously. Violence has no place in our city, and those responsible must be held accountable,” she said.

Yeah, daily relentless violence by motorists against cyclists and peds is okay, but the other way around? Outrageous.
