Nissan says its electric car will have 100-mile range

Nice. I want a plug-in real bad (or maybe a hybrid). By 2010 or so, my 2002 Envoy will be about worthless at way over 100,000 miles. I don't give a damn what the trade in or outright sale is on it. Plus, the $7,500 tax credit is a good one to help soften the blow to get a new car again. If it snows heavy, we still have our 4WD Subaru Outback to make it around to work etc.

If you can get an EV (all electric) with the range you need the maintenance should be a lot less than with hybrid or PHEV.

B.S. They will never sell these to the masses. Interferes with the established business model of car owners constantly needing to bring them to dealers for routine service related to the gas engine. Not to mention the fund holders of auto company stock also hold funds in oil. This is just more green washing.

Don't worry, they'll still be unreliable. They'll find ways to make you replace wiring harnesses for $500.
