No more Ludicrous…

I wanted to order a Ludicrous BBSHD kit from LunaCycle, but saw they are out of stock of 68mm. I sent a message and they were very quick to respond, made it sound like these kits are now a thing of the past… I had a BBS02 on a previous build but that occasionally got too hot. (Hilly gravel terrain) Is there anyone else that sells a modded version of BBSHD, or am I stuck with the stock version?

I'm no expert on these motors.
From what i understand, the newer CANBUS versions are trickier to tune, if tuneable at all

You can still run an external controller to the 3 phases and 5 hall wires to the motor though and use whatever controller you like and however much power you like.

Ah yes that makes sense, I recently did a build on a CANBUS BBS02 and thought it seemed to have a few bugs. Speed sensing was overly touchy and it also takes about 10 seconds to boot up. Doesn’t seem like a good system to modify.

Personally i find fault with most factory controllers .. whether it be design, or things which cannot be tuned.. and almost always rip them out. Never see a factory controller on anything that just did what i tell it

By ripping out a controller from a motor where the controller is integrated, you also increase the heat shedding capacity of said motor... allowing you to crank the power up a bit more

Doesn’t seem like a good system to modify.

For the CAN version, you can try the open source firmware, there is not much user feedback on the BBS02 (M315) version yet...

It is a thing of the past, marcos and Luna do not support even the existing owners of their Ludicrous controllers and abandoned their official threads on their official forum about those Ludicrous kits

There is an open source INNOTRACE Shrimp motor controller you can solder that should fit inside the BBSHD motor.
