I have a Vesc 4.11 from ollin board company and a nyko kama wireless nunchuck. I bought a 7 pin jst connector from ollin as well. I have run into some problems configuring them in BLDC tool.

When I turn on the VESC and connect it to BLDC tool, it does not recognize that I have a controller has been connected because when I check the Display option nothing shows or moves when I move the controller. I wired it according to the second picture on this forum page https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=69557. Also the controller does not seem to be connected at all because flashing lights are the only thing I get on the controller but I have connected the wires just how I see them in the picture. I am eager to test my board but before I can do that, I need a control system to work.

I just got a OllinBoardCo. VESC + nunchuck cable as well, along with the Nyko Kama. All I did was wire up the colors to the corresponding colors on the JST cable (red to red, black to black, etc.), plugged it in, and it worked.

When I turn on the board and hit the S button, the light on both the controller and receiver go solid.

Do you get any blinking on the receiver or just the controller?

The light on the receiver is always dark, but the one on the controller only blinks. I wired the controller exactly like the picture, even though there were a few colors swapped around. I think I should have just wired it based on the color code. I now notice two of my connectors have been swapped and will probably work if I switch them.

Yeah, your receiver isn't wired up correctly then if there's no light on it.

I know you can't see the connections to the pads because it's covered by the heatshrink, but each colored wire is connected to the corresponding color on the receiver. I desoldered the white wire and removed it completely.

I just rewired it and I still got no lights. I disconnected the white wire so red to red, blue to blue, Green to green and brown to black.
I don’t know if this makes a difference, but the pcb for the nunchuck looks different.

Huh, you have a wireless Nyko Kama (the brand specifically)? I don't have a brown wire so the receivers must be different.

My receiver and wire layout looks like this (step 1 photo):

mine says NYKO Kama on the shell, but the PCB on the inside looks like the second picture in the link I showed earlier

If you have a link to where you bought yours I would like to see how its different.

I got it from some random person on Ebay, but this was the listing:

I specifically wanted a black one (which is why I bought this particular one), but they're really hard to find.

I have the nyko kama model 87027, while that one was a 87111. So if I have to buy a new one, will avoid the 87027.
