So this oil ring was a bit damaged when I opened the motor to fix some stuff.

It sits at the outer end of the axle and keeps the two retaining axle nuts in place.

Any idea if this has to be flawless(Or do I need to buy a new one) or is it ok if it is a bit damaged like this one? See pictures. Two pics are on the oil ring and one at the retaining nuts that it keeps in place.
Not exactly sure what it does and if it can keep serving its purpose in this state there at the outer end?
Or.. should I buy a new one and wait for it in the Mail before I keep moving forward? 👍

I don't think that's an oil ring, more of a moisture and debris barrier ring. So, if you ride on clean roads and not in the rain or in muddy conditions, you could probably reuse the ring, if you're in a rush to get back riding. Otherwise, I'd wait for a new one, reassemble, and not have it nagging me in the back of my mind.

Yeah I might have gotten hold of one today. That is my thinking too. Build right from the start. Put some extra time into things that is a headache or an annoyance. And it usually don't bite you later. That always works for me. But now I am a bit restless :)
