Oil Shock Inflation

They wasted 50 billion and more on the NBN, which is, in my opinion, technically redundant with high-speed mobile and Starlink services.

Maybe. I don't dispute that there may be inefficiencies and bad decisions. I also won't dispute that it may not be meeting it's intended goals.

However, I understand much of it is optical? Reading Wikipedia, it mentions using existing copper for the last link, but mentions fibre otherwise.

The least expensive way to do damage to Australia in a war (Taiwan, cough, cough) is a single EMP weapon over the centre of the landmass. This won't affect the optical fibre. Perhaps the installation does not include a coast-to-coast physical fibre backbone (or backbones). I don't know.

Not the design plan (or was it?), and hopefully we won't need to find out, but it may be a happy accident.

And dont forget Snowy 2…..$2.0bn budgeted,…..going on $42bn at the last report !
all for a net consumer of 400MW of electricity🙄
Or the inland rail, the last stages of which have been canned. Not that I mind, it was slated to come through a town not for away, resuming endless farmland and culminating in a hub not 50km away that would have seen much increased semi traffic back up through my town possibly. I have no issue with large scale corporate developments, JNIMBY
