hi guys,

i think of converting my old 26 inch hard tail with normal 135mm drop-outs into an ebike.

here in china people have all kinds of electric scooters so i thought it would be easy to find the parts for the conversion. but maybe also due to language barrier it is hard to find something decent... had a look into lots of ebike shops around here but they don't have the mountain bike kind of stuff and power seems to be limited to 1200w.

so i am looking for a robust rear wheel kit with a 2-3kw bldc hub that can also do regen. battery should be a lifepo4 and be good for at least 50km in purely electric mode on even road.
i plan to use it as a single speeder that should be able to take some beating on rough single trails from time to time.

can somebody recommend a kit or parts to me with good value for money?

cheers
joe

See "Need Advice?" in sig line.

I understand that the regulations on ebikes and consequences of non-compliance in China have recently changed. Have you investigated that?

to be honest - i have no idea. i guess here in the city of baoding nobody will care. many vehicles on the roads are illegal.
for some scooters sellers claim they can do 60kph and can be ridden without driving license and insurance.

i think about a crystalyte hub motor with 72v. which lifepo4 would you recommend to get in china?
