The current plan is to use 12 or 16 of the HobbyKng 6 cell 8000mAh Lipos, looking for bulk charging options.
From the reading I have done on here it seems like this would be a really good option if not a bit overkill for my purpose.

Are there any less expensive options for bulk charging my Lipos to 50v at 10 or 20 amps? I like the versatility of the above power supply so I don't really mind the extra cost. Might even get the 100v version in case I go to a 72v set up later.
Mainly looking for cheaper options or any reasons I might not want to use the above power supply as my bulk charger.

you will need a BMS to balance and protect the pack if you are gonna use bulk charging. if you use a regular lifepo4 charger then when it gets to the CV stage it will balance the battery under the BMS.

Wouldn't a Lifepo4 charger be the wrong voltage, can I use that at all?
Planning to parallel balance them periodically with a Lipo balance charger.

Plenty.
It just depends how cheap you want to go, and how much reliability you are prepared to risk .
This is an alternative 20 A, "Lab" PSU, for $200.

And there are many Meanwell type clone PSUs for CNC and LED drives that would do the job.
600W, 36 -52v , 10 -15 A seems common at prices ranging down as low as $50 !
buy a pair, have spares or series them up for higher voltages ?

But for the money you are prepared to spend, i am sure you could buy a 12 S balance charger ?

you can adjust the charger output voltage to the 58.8V of the 14S of lipo. that way you have the balancing current to balance the lipo pack.

There are lots of bulk chargers from $20 up.

Since you're looking at 50V I assume you're running 12s. Here's a decent 12s balance charger.

Need a 350W minimum 12-15v PSU for it. Old computer PSU will work if you have one.
